ExpoCité
ExpoCité (formerly Parc de l'Exposition) is a multi-site entertainment complex located in the borough of La Cité-Limoilou, in downtown Quebec City. This is also the name of the corporation authorized by the City of Quebec to administer the site. ExpoCité was best known for Expo Québec an annual 12-day exhibition held in August but folded in 2016. The Salon de l'Auto de Québec (Quebec City Auto Show) is held there each March. Expo Québec
Expo Québec was an annual fair that took place in Quebec City in mid to late August from 1897 to 2015. History The first exposition began in 1854, the first full exhibition began after the establishment of the Québec City Provincial Exhibition Company in 1892. The exposition site, now referred to as ExpoCité, had including a 1,000 seat stadium, racetrack and mostly agricultural theme. In 1913 a midway and roller coaster was added making it common with most modern fall fairs. Demise In early 2016 the City of Quebec announced that Expo Québec would not return in 2016 and the site next to Videotron Centre (once the race track site) would be re-developed mirroring the collapse of the Ottawa SuperEX in Ottawa, Ontario in 2011. The former Colisée Pepsi closed in 2011 and is also expected to be demolished. Pavillon De La Jeunesse
The Pavillon de la Jeunesse is an indoor arena, in Quebec City, Quebec on the grounds of ExpoCité. It opened in 1931 as an amphitheatre to replace the Victoria Park Arena destroyed in 1943, it was referred to as Pavillon de l'agriculture (1931 to 1970) for use for agricultural displays for the provincial exhibition or Expo Quebec. Since the 1980s it has been used as a sports venue and has a capacity of 5,000 spectators. It was damaged in a fire in 1949 resulting in restoration work in 1949–1950. The current ice surface was added in 1969–1970. The Quebec Remparts played a few games here in their last season before folding and has been used by current Quebec Remparts for pre-season games. Street Circuit
A street circuit is a motorsport racing circuit composed of temporarily closed-off public roads of a city, town or village, used in motor races. Airport runways and taxiways are also sometimes part of street circuits. Facilities such as the paddock, pit boxes, fences and grandstands are usually installed temporarily and removed soon after the race is over but in modern times the pits, garages, race control and main grandstands are sometimes permanently constructed in the area. Since the track surface is originally planned for normal speeds, race drivers often find street circuits bumpy and lacking grip. Ralt was a manufacturer of single-seater racing cars, founded by ex-Jack Brabham associate Ron Tauranac after he sold out his interest in Brabham to Bernie Ecclestone. Ron and his brother had built some specials in Australia in the 1950s under the Ralt name (standing for Ron and Austin Lewis Tauranac). Tauranac won the 1954 NSW Hillclimb Championship in the Ralt 500. Cars Early Ralts Built with the assistance of Tauranac's younger brother, Austin, in Australia. Kevin Cogan
John Kevin Cogan (born in Culver City, California on March 31, 1956) is a former race car driver who drove in Formula One from to . Driving a RAM Williams in the 1980 Canadian Grand Prix, he failed to qualify, suffering the same result driving for Tyrrell at the 1981 US GP West. He then moved over to Indy cars in 1982 but his career was cut short by a series of accidents. Racing career Cogan made his Indycar debut at the 1981 Indianapolis 500, driving the No. 32 Sugaripe Prunes Phoenix PR-01-Cosworth DFX for Jerry O'Connell Racing, as part of the USAC Gold Crown Championship.
