Exercise Komodo
KOMODO or Multilateral Naval Exercise KOMODO (MNEK) is a military exercise by the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL). It is annually held between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The first KOMODO was held in 2014, around Batam. Its aims are to enhance facilitating multilateral engagement with greater international partners. Four exercises have taken place: 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2023. History MNEK 2014 (1st) The exercise consists of a total of 18 countries and took place around Batam, Natuna and Anambas area. Australia backed out of the exercise due to political reasons. KRI ''Tanjung Kambani'' (971) is a troopship of the Indonesian Navy. She was built in 1982 as ro-ro ferry and previously named ''Kobe Maru'', ''Car Ferry Cheju No.2'' and ''Dong Yang Express Ferry No.6''. Development and design KRI ''Tanjung Kambani'' was an ordinary roll on/roll off ferry designed to carry passengers which was later modified into a personnel carrier and entered the ranks of the warships of the Republic of Indonesia. KRI ''Tanjung Kambani'' has a length of 114.50 meters and a width of 19.80 meters and a depth of 6.00 meters. KRI ''Makassar'' (590) is the lead ship of the ''Makassar''-class landing platform dock of the Indonesian Navy. Development and design Indonesia signed a US$150 million contract in December 2004 and the first two units were built in Busan, South Korea.
