Ex Norwegian
Ex Norwegian is an American indie rock band from Miami Beach, Florida, formed in 2008. Origin Ex Norwegian originated in Miami Beach in the summer of 2008 and officially launched at that year's CMJ Festival in New York City after the success of their debut single "Something Unreal". The band was created out of Roger Houdaille's Father Bloopy project, which bassist Carolina Souto was also involved in. The two recruited drummer Arturo Garcia midway through sessions for the debut album. The band immediately stuck a rapport with each other and the South Florida music scene, landing several features in key local media, including the cover of ''City Link''. The band got invited to sign with SESAC at the same time record labels took notice. The band would eventually license their debut album with New York label, Dying Van Gogh Records. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Power pop (also typeset as powerpop) is a form of pop rock based on the early music of bands such as the Who, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Byrds. It typically incorporates melodic hooks, vocal harmonies, an energetic performance, and cheerful sounding music underpinned by a sense of yearning, longing, or despair. Britpop
Britpop was a mid-1990s British-based music culture movement that emphasised Britishness. It produced brighter, catchier alternative rock, partly in reaction to the popularity of the darker lyrical themes of the US-led grunge music and to the UK's own shoegaze music scene. The movement brought British alternative rock into the mainstream and formed the backbone of a larger British popular cultural movement, Cool Britannia, which evoked the Swinging Sixties and the British guitar pop of that decade. Britpop was a media-driven focus on bands which emerged from the independent music scene of the early 1990s. Fruits de Mer Records is a British independent record label based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England, established by Keith Jones and Andy Bracken in 2008. It releases psychedelic rock, psychedelic folk, folk rock, space rock and krautrock music, with an international roster of artists spanning from the 1960s to the present. The record label principally releases music on phonograph record format, but compact disc is commonly used for its Various Artists compilations, while compact cassettes have also been issued. Transcendence (band)
Transcendence is an alternative rock band formed by Ed Hale in 2000. The band is a musical collective of musicians from the Miami and New York City music scenes. Members include Ed Hale (lead vocals and guitar), Fernando Perdomo (lead guitar and backing vocals), Roger Houdaille (bass guitar and backing vocals), Allan Gabay (keyboards), Ricardo Mazzi (drums) and Bill Sommer (drums). The band released three albums from 2002 to 2004, including the critically acclaimed ''Nothing Is Cohesive'' before taking a hiatus. Fernando Perdomo
Fernando Jose Perdomo (born August 17, 1980) is an American musician best known for his work as a producer and session bassist and guitarist. Career Fernando started his career as a session guitar player after playing in Miami Bands, Avenging Lawnmowers of Justice, Sixo, and Trophy Wife. In 1999, his guitar playing was featured in a nationwide ad campaign for Pier One Imports. In 2002, at the age of 22 he recorded most of the guitars for Cristian Castro's ''Amar Es''. He toured with Castro throughout Latin America. Perdomo played lead guitar and piano for Soraya on her final tour. It was during this time that Perdomo joined Ed Hale and Transcendence, finally adding a permanent guitarist to the band's often-changing lineup. In 2007 Perdomo played and served as musical director for singer-songwriter Hilary Mcrae. Kylesa
Kylesa is an American heavy metal band that was formed in Savannah, Georgia. Their music incorporates experimentalism with heavy riffs, drop-tuned guitars and elements of psychedelic rock. The group was established in 2001 by the former members of Damad, with the addition of guitar player Laura Pleasants who is from North Carolina. The band has since undergone line up changes; the remaining original members are Phillip Cope and Laura Pleasants. In 2006, the band added two drummers (Carl McGinley of Unpersons, from Savannah, and Jeff Porter). Eric Hernandez (of Capsule, from Miami) joined in 2008 to replace Porter.
