Evite is a social-planning website for creating, sending, and managing online invitations. The website offers digital invitations with RSVP tracking. They also offer greeting cards, announcements, eGift cards, and party planning ideas. Evite was launched in 1998 by co-founders Al Lieb and Selina Tobaccowala. Since 2020, private investors have owned Evite after two decades of ownership under media conglomerates. Usage Evite is primarily used as an event planning platform, offering free and Premium (paid) invitations to its 160 million annual users. Selina Tobaccowala is an entrepreneur and software product executive. She is known for co-founding the company Evite. Career Selina Tobaccowala attended Stanford University in Stanford, California and graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science. While in college, she and fellow Stanford student Al Leib founded Evite in 1997. She served as vice president of engineering at Evite until 2001, when Evite was acquired by Ticketmaster. After managing the transition, she became senior vice president of product at Ticketmaster's Europe division. In film and video, a cutaway is the interruption of a continuously filmed action by inserting a view of something else. It is usually followed by a cut back to the first shot. A cutaway scene is the interruption of a scene with the insertion of another scene, generally unrelated or only peripherally related to the original scene. The interruption is usually quick, and is usually, although not always, ended by a return to the original scene. The effect is of commentary to the original scene, frequently comic in nature.
