Evgenia Shapovalova
Yevgeniya Anatolyevna Shapovalova (russian: Евгения Анатольевна Шаповалова; born 15 June 1986 in Nizhny Tagil) is a Russian cross-country skier who has been competing since 2006. Career At the 2010 Winter Olympics, she finished 28th in the individual sprint event. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo, Shapovalova finished 12th in the team sprint and 19th in the individual sprint events. Her lone World Cup victory was in a sprint event in China in 2007. In December 2016, FIS provisionally suspended six Russian cross-country skiers linked to doping violations during the 2014 Winter Olympics, including Yevgeniya Shapovalova. She was officially disqualified from the 2014 Winter Olympics by the International Olympic Committee on 9 November 2017. Nizhny Tagil ( rus, Нижний Тагил, p=ˈnʲiʐnʲɪj tɐˈgʲil) is a types of inhabited localities in Russia, city in Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia, located east of the boundary between Asia and Europe. Cross-country Skiing At The 2014 Winter Olympics – Women's 30 Kilometre Freestyle
The women's 30 kilometre mass start freestyle cross-country skiing competition at the 2014 Sochi Olympics took place on 22 February at Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex. Three Norwegian athletes, Marit Bjørgen, Therese Johaug, and Kristin Størmer Steira, took the lead from 1 km on and skied in the group, never being threatened by other competitors. At the finish line, Bjørgen won gold, Johaug finished second, and Størmer Steira was third. This is the first gold for Norway in women's 30 km race, and the first clean sweep in Olympic cross country skiing since 1992. For Bjørgen, this was the sixth Winter Olympic gold medal, which, together with Lidiya Skoblikova and Lyubov Yegorova, made her a woman with the largest number of Winter Olympics gold medals won. The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 ( cs, Mistrovství světa v klasickém lyžování Liberec 2009) took place 18 February – 1 March 2009 in Liberec, Czech Republic. This was the fourth time these championships were hosted either in the Czech Republic or in Czechoslovakia, having done so at Janské Lázně (1925) and Vysoké Tatry (in both 1935 and 1970). The biggest sports event in the country's history, it hosted 589 athletes from 61 countries.
