Everyman (Larry Ekler) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The Everyman first appeared in ''Captain America (comic book), Captain America'' #267 (Mar 1982) and was created by J. M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck. He also appears in ''Marvel Team-Up'' #131-133 (July–September 1983). The character subsequently appears as ''Zeitgeist'' in ''Alpha Flight'' #78 (December 1989), and ''Captain America'' #390 (August 1991), #393 (October 1991), and #442 (August 1995), in which he is killed. Zeitgeist received an entry in the ''All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z'' #12 (2006). The Scourge of the Underworld is the name of a series of fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Writer/editor Mark Gruenwald originally created the Scourge in 1985 as a plot device intended to thin the criminal population of the Marvel Universe, in particular eliminating those supervillain characters he deemed to be too minor, redundant, or ill-conceived.
