Everett J. Murphy
Notable men of Illinois & their state Everett Jerome Murphy (July 24, 1852 – April 10, 1922) was a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from Illinois. Born in Nashville, Illinois, Nashville, Washington County, Illinois, Murphy moved with his parents to Sparta, Illinois. He attended the public and high schools. He worked as a city clerk for Sparta in 1877, but resigned in 1878 and moved to Chester, Illinois, Chester, the county seat, to accept the appointment of deputy clerk of the circuit court.
