Eve Kivi (real name Eeve Kivi; born on 8 May 1938 in Paide) is an Estonian actress. Biography In 1959 she graduated from Estonian Drama Theatre's learning studio. She has worked at Tallinnfilm and Mosfilm. Since 1955 she has played on about 50 films. From 1965 until 1972, she was married to speed skater Ants Antson. The film became extremely popular, and some critics consider it the only Estonian cult film. Content editor was later president of Estonia Lennart Meri Setting The movie is set during a Livonian War era peasant uprising. A central plot device is the Pirita monastery, a real monastery dedicated to St. Brigitta. The plot revolves around two rival motorcyclists' love for one of the two twin sisters. The film was shot in Estonia in 1960–61, and released internationally in 1962. It was filmed in the Soviet-designed Kinopanorama format. In 1999, Fifth Continent Australia Pty Ltd and Vision 146 SARL commissioned the restoration of two reels from the eleven-reel film. These have since been screened at the former New Neon Movies in Dayton, Ohio, the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, California, and most recently at the Bradford Widescreen Festival on 19 March 2008.
