Evan McMillan
Evan McMillan (born 20 November 1986) is an Irish football coach and former player. He is the older brother of Dundalk player David. Career UCD McMillan was part of the Irish Colleges team that travelled to Thailand in the summer of 2007, where he finished top scorer for his country with two goals. Later that year, McMillan captained the UCD U-21 side to their third Dr Tony O'Neill league triumph in four years, with a penalty shoot out victory over St Patrick's Athletic. He went on to make thirteen league appearances. On 21 April 2008, UCD played against St Patrick's Athletic in the first round of the League Cup. In the 77th minute, Evan landed, in his own words, a "thundering header" to put them one goal up against their Dublin rivals. The 2011 Leinster Senior Cup, was the 110th staging of the Leinster Senior Cup association football competition. 43 teams entered the 2011 competition including the 11 League of Ireland teams affiliated to the Leinster Football Association who entered the competition at the Fourth round stage. Leinster Senior Cup (association Football)
The Leinster Senior Cup is an association football cup competition organized by the Leinster Football Association. It is currently contested by LFA affiliated League of Ireland clubs, Leinster Senior League Senior Division clubs and invited teams from the various LFA affiliated junior leagues. Before the introduction of the FAI Cup, it was considered the major cup competition for clubs in what is now the Republic of Ireland. Collingwood Cup
The Collingwood Cup is an association football cup competition featuring university teams from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is organised by the Irish Universities Football Union, and is the oldest surviving all Ireland association football competition. University College Dublin were the inaugural winners, and later became the cup's most successful team. The competition has been played almost annually since 1914, taking a break during the First World War/ Irish War of Independence era and again in 1932 and 1933 due to a dispute between the Irish Football Association and the Football Association of Ireland. 2008 A Championship
The 2008 A Championship was the inaugural season of the A Championship in Ireland. The league featured 16 teams. UCD A were the inaugural champions, Cork City A won the Shield competition and Mervue United were promoted to the First Division after a play off. A Championship Shield Between March and June the twelve League of Ireland Premier Division reserve teams competed in the A Championship Shield. Mervue United, Salthill Devon and Tullamore Town did not play in the Shield as they were still playing in their previous junior/intermediate leagues which operated as winter leagues. This resulted in an overlap with the A Championship which operated as a summer league. A Championship
The A Championship, also known as the Newstalk A Championship, was an association football league featuring League of Ireland reserve teams and emerging senior teams. It was a third level league in the Republic of Ireland football league system. It was formed in 2008 and disbanded following the 2011 season. Between 2009 and 2011 the league was sponsored by Newstalk. It was effectively absorbed into the League of Ireland U19 Division. Glentoran Football Club is a professional football club that plays in the NIFL Premiership. The club was founded in 1882. History Early history In 1914, Glentoran won the Vienna Cup, becoming the first United Kingdom team to win a European trophy, although as this competition took place several decades before the formation of UEFA, it is not recognised as such. 1960s George Best watched Glentoran with his grandfather as a youth, but was rejected by the club for being "too small and light". However, Best did make one appearance for Glentoran, in the club's centenary match against Manchester United.
