Eva Yaneva
Eva Yaneva (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Ева Янева, born 31 July 1985 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian volleyball player. She currently plays for Volero Le Cannet in France. Career She started playing volleyball in 1996 at the age of 11 with CSKA Sofia. Yaneva has played for teams that finished 7th and 8th in the 2004 and 2006 European Championships, respectively; the 2006 champion of the French Cup; and three champions of Bulgaria. National team Yaneva is a key player for the Bulgaria women's national volleyball team and has captained it on occasions. In 2011, she was banned from participating in the 2011 Women's European Volleyball Championship due to supposed disciplinary breaches, but has since then been reinstated to the national side and continues to be a regular for the team. She competed at the 2021 Women's European Volleyball League, winning a gold medal. Sofia
Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. The Middle European League or MEVZA League is a regional volleyball league, contested by the club teams from the Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA). The season consists of two phases, the regular league season and the final four tournament. Boris Yeltsin Volleyball Cup
The Boris Yeltsin Volleyball Cup is an annual international women's volleyball tournament. It is named after the first president of Russia, Boris Yeltsin. Since 2008, the tournament has been held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Medalists History In the summer of 2002, Nikolay Karpol (the head coach of the Russian women's national volleyball team and Uralochka) met with Boris Yeltsin to discuss a new international volleyball competition. Yeltsin agreed for the tournament to be named after him; at the same time Karpol's initiative was strongly supported by the governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Eduard Rossel. 2011 Women's European Volleyball League
The 2011 Women's European Volleyball League was the third edition of the annual Women's European Volleyball League, which featured Women's national volleyball teams from twelve European countries: Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Romania, Serbia, Spain, and Turkey. A preliminary league round was played from May 25 to July 10, and the final four tournament, which was held at Istanbul, Turkey, on 15/16 July. During the league round, competing nations were drawn into two pools of four teams, and played each other in a double round-robin system, with two matches per leg in a total of six legs. 2009 Women's European Volleyball Championship
The 2009 Women's European Volleyball Championship was the 26th edition of the European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. The cities that hosted matches were Bydgoszcz, Łódź, Katowice and Wrocław in Poland, from 25 September to 4 October 2009. Qualification Format The tournament was played in three different stages. In the first stage, the sixteen participants were divided in four groups (A, B, C and D) of four teams each. The 2012 Women's European Volleyball League was the fourth edition of the annual Women's European Volleyball League, which featured women's national volleyball teams from twelve European countries. A preliminary league round was played from June 1 to June 30, and the final four tournament, which was held at the Czech Republic on July 5–6, 2012. During the league round, competing nations were drawn into three pools of four teams, and every team hosted a tournament with three other teams and playing a round-robin system over three days. The Women's European Volleyball League is a continental volleyball competition for senior women's national volleyball teams of Europe, organized by the European Volleyball Confederation ( CEV).
