European Rally Championship
The European Rally Championship (officially FIA European Rally Championship) is an automobile rally competition held annually on the European continent and organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship has been organized since 1953 and has competed in different European countries, alternating between rallies on asphalt and gravel. It was the first supranational rally championship that was organized in the world and therefore the oldest one. In 2012 it had 60 editions and in 2013 it was renewed with the merger with the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. Group R
In relation to motorsport governed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, Group R refers to a set of regulations providing production-derived vehicles for rally competition. The Group R regulations were created in 2008 as a gradual replacement for Group A and Group N rally cars. To comply with Group R regulations, a car must be homologated in Group A (or in some cases Group N) and receive one or more VR extensions. Each VR extension is a set of homologated parts and modifications, designed and sold (as a kit or as a complete car) by the manufacturer. As part of its structure, the Group R regulations have a provision for GT cars, known as R-GT. Classes Group R consists of six classes, designated R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R-GT; some of these groups contain their own sub-groups, with cars allocated to each group based on their weight, engine size and powertrain. 2014 Tour De Corse
The 2014 Tour de Corse was the 11th and final round of the 2014 European Rally Championship season, held on the island of Corsica from 7–9 November 2014. Report The title fight was meant to go down to the wire here at Corsica between Škoda team-mates Esapekka Lappi and Sepp Wiegand. But, a fire following a testing crash for Wiegand made Lappi the champion by default. Lappi, pleased to have been crowned the newest European Rally Champion before the event had even begun, was hoping to add to his tally of wins. It was not to be, though, as the Finn crashed on Stage 6, ending his rally. Ex-Formula 1 driver Stéphane Sarrazin led the majority of the rally, having won most of the stages to take a dominating win, ahead of his compatriot Bryan Bouffier. DKW 3=6
The DKW 3=6 is a compact car, compact front-wheel drive sedan (car), saloon manufactured by ''Auto Union Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung, GmbH''. The car was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in March 1953 and sold until 1959. It carried the name ''Sonderklasse'' ("Special Class") on the right hand fender of all steel bodied models - this being part of the model name for this range. The first model in the range was named by factory project number, DKW F91, which was replaced by the F93 and F94 models from the 1956 model year. The F93 and F94 models were referred to by Auto Union as the "Big DKW 3=6" (Großer 3=6). Walter Schlüter
Walter Schlüter, (1911 – November 1977), was a West German racing and rally driver, who won the 1954 European Rally Championship. Racing Driver Walter was a fuel wholesale by trade, from Velbert. He became racing in the 1930, notably in a modified BMW 328. After the World War II, he played an instrumental in the re-establishing of the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD), and getting motor racing underway in Germany. In 1950, he entered the inaugural season of the Deutsche Meisterschaft Formel 3 where he raced a Monopoletta-BMW. During the season, he won F3 support race at the Großer Preis von Deutschland, on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This result helped him to third overall in the championship. Fiat 1100
The Fiat 1100 is a small family car produced from 1953 until 1969 by the Italian manufacturer Fiat. It was an all-new unibody replacement for the Fiat 1100 E, which descended from the pre-war, body-on-frame Fiat 508 C Balilla 1100. The 1100 was changed steadily and gradually until being replaced by the new Fiat 128 in 1969. There were also a series of light commercial versions of the 1100 built, with later models called the Fiat 1100T, which remained in production until 1971. The Porsche 356 is a sports car that was first produced by Austrian company Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH (1948–1949), and then by German company Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH (1950–1965). It was Porsche's first production automobile. Earlier cars designed by the Austrian company include Cisitalia Grand Prix race car, the Volkswagen Beetle, and Auto Union Grand Prix cars. Helmut Polensky
Helmut Polensky (10 October 1915, Berlin – 6 November 2011, Saint-Tropez) was a German moto racer, racing driver and racing car constructor. Life outside racing Polensky was the youngest of four sons. His father was an architect. After leaving school and finishing military service, he began a career as a professional motorcycle and auto racer. After the Second World War, he married. He spent the last decades of his life in Saint-Tropez. The 1930s and the Second World War Polensky began racing motorcycles as a club racer in the mid-1930s. In 1939, he switched to sports car racing, piloting a used BMW 328. The same year, he signed as an engineer apprentice with Auto Union, and also joined the National Socialist Motor Corps.
