European Closing Bell
''European Closing Bell'' (prior to June 2003 known as ''European Market Wrap'') is a television programme aired on business news channel CNBC Europe from 5pm to 6pm CET (4pm to 5pm WET), and from 11am to 12pm on CNBC World in the United States. The programme was presented from London by Louisa Bojesen. The show covered the last half-hour of trades in the European equity markets, and reported on the day's final numbers and top stories as the markets close at 5:30pm CET. As the major European markets are electronic, no actual "closing bell" was rung - nonetheless there was a countdown on the CNBC Europe strap and video wall until the close of trade. CNBC World is an American pay television business news channel operated by the NBCUniversal News Group which provides coverage of world markets alongside the domestic CNBC service, using programmes from CNBC's international networks based in Europe, Asia, India, and other regions served by a domestic CNBC channel or affiliate. Effectively, this makes the network's prime time timeslot the graveyard slot, due to time zone differences, when it simulcasts live programming from their overseas sister networks. ''TechCheck'' is an American business news program that airs on CNBC from 11:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m Eastern Time. It premiered on April 12, 2021. It is broadcast live Monday through Friday from a trading-floor set inside Post 9 at the New York Stock Exchange, which is shared with ''Squawk on the Street'' and ''Closing Bell'', and from CNBC's studios in San Francisco. History In February 2021, CNBC announced it would replace ''Squawk Alley'' with a new hour-long program called ''TechCheck''. Closing Bell
''Closing Bell'' can refer to two CNBC programs: the original ''Closing Bell'' on CNBC (which debuted on February 4, 2002) and '' European Closing Bell'' on CNBC Europe (which was cancelled on December 18, 2015). The show is named after the bell that is rung to signify the end of a trading session on the New York Stock Exchange which occurs at 4:00 pm EST. Many exchanges used to signify end of trading with a gong or bell when they were operated on an open outcry basis. The New York Stock Exchange still uses this system and often invites special guests to ring the bell. The CNBC shows use this name as they cover the period up to the end of trading and review the trading of the day after the market has closed.
