Euro Hockey League
The Euro Hockey League is an annual men's field hockey cup competition organized by the EHF for the very top field hockey clubs in Europe. The competition was launched at the start of the 2007-08 field hockey season when it merged and replaced the men's EuroHockey Club Champions Cup (the champions competition) and the EuroHockey Cup Winners Cup (the Cup Winners' competition). Featuring many of the world's best players, the EHL is now seen as the pinnacle of club hockey in Europe (hockey's equivalent of the UEFA Champions League) with top clubs from across the continent playing what many consider to be the most exciting and dynamic club hockey in the world. The competition has been won by eight clubs, two of which have won it more than once. Bloemendaal is the most successful clubs in the tournament's history; having won it five times. Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club
Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club (founded 28 January 1892) is the oldest field hockey club of the Netherlands, based in Amstelveen. AH&BC is also the largest field hockey club in the city (2286 members). The team is a powerhouse of both domestic and international hockey. Both its men's and women's teams are annual contenders for the Dutch titles. The men's team won its maiden European Cup in 2005. Originally, the club was also playing bandy, as is still reflected in the club's name. Amstelveen
Amstelveen () is a municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands with a population of 92.353 as of 2022. It is a suburban part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. The 2009–10 Euro Hockey League was the third season of the Euro Hockey League, Europe's premier club field hockey tournament organized by the EHF. The final was played between UHC Hamburg and Rotterdam at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands. UHC Hamburg beat Rotterdam 3–1 to win their second title. The 2008–09 Euro Hockey League was the second season of the Euro Hockey League, Europe's premier club field hockey tournament organised by the EHF. The final was played between UHC Hamburg and Bloemendaal at the Hazelaarweg Stadion in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Penalty Shoot-out (field Hockey)
A penalty shootout is a method used in field hockey to decide which team progresses to the next stage of a tournament (or wins the tournament) following a tied game. Two methods have been used: the original penalty stroke competition is a best-of-five penalty strokes with sudden death if scores were level after five strokes. An alternate penalty shoot-out competition was introduced at major tournaments in 2011. Sometimes known as a penalty shuffle, the method is similar to penalty shots in ice hockey and consists of one-on-ones between an attacking player and a goalkeeper. Hockey Club Rotterdam, commonly known as Rotterdam is a Dutch field hockey club based in Rotterdam, South Holland. It was founded on 16 September 1925. HGC (field Hockey)
H.O.C. Gazellen-Combinatie, also known as HGC, is a Dutch field hockey club located in Wassenaar, South Holland on the border of The Hague. The club was founded on 22 September 1906. The first teams (men and women) competed for many years on the highest level of the Dutch field hockey league, in the "Hoofdklasse". In 1995/'96 both the men's and the women's first team won the national championship. The men's 1st XI also competed in the Euro Hockey League.
