The competition was held in Rome, Italy and took place from October 12 to October 16, 1938. Italy women's national basketball team, Italy won the gold medal and Lithuania women's national basketball team, Lithuania the silver medal while Poland women's national basketball team, Poland won the bronze. EuroBasket 1950 Women
The 1950 European Championship for Women was the 2nd regional championship held by FIBA Europe for women. The competition was held in Budapest, Hungary and took place May 14–20, 1950. The Soviet Union won the gold medal, with Hungary and Czechoslovakia winning silver and bronze, respectively. The remaining teams were put on a second group to define the 7th to 12th spot in the final standings. EuroBasket Women is a biennial international women's basketball competition held between the nations of FIBA Europe for women's national teams. EuroBasket Women is also used as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Women's World Cup and also the Olympic Games. History The first tournament was held in 1938 in Fascist Italy, with participation of only five national teams. Despite losing to Lithuania (21–23), the host team won all other matches and captured inaugural title thanks to better head-to-head point difference among Top 3 teams.
