EuroBasket 2015 Group A
Group A of the EuroBasket 2015 took place between 5 and 10 September 2015. The group played all of its games at Park&Suites Arena in Montpellier, France. The group is composed of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, France, Israel, Poland and Russia. The four best ranked teams advanced to the second round. EuroBasket 2015
EuroBasket 2015 was the 39th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe. It was co-hosted by Croatia, France, Germany, and Latvia, making it the first EuroBasket held in more than one country. It started on 5 September and ended on 20 September 2015. The top two teams ( and ) qualified to the 2016 Summer Olympics. The next five teams (, , , and the ) advanced to the World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. and later qualified due to Serbia and Italy hosting two of the Olympic qualifying tournaments while also qualified as an invitee. Spain won their third title by defeating Lithuania 80–63 in the final. France won bronze on home soil defeating Serbia (81–68). The final game was held in the Stade Pierre-Mauroy and set a new record for the highest attendance in a EuroBasket game, with 26,922. Pau Gasol was named the tournament's MVP. Marcin Janusz Gortat (; born February 17, 1984) is a Polish former professional basketball player. The , center is the son of boxer Janusz Gortat. He was drafted in the second round by the Phoenix Suns in the 2005 NBA draft and played for the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers. Andrey Yuryevich Zubkov (russian: Андрей Юрьевич Зубков; born June 29, 1991) is a Russian professional basketball player for the Russian team Zenit Saint Petersburg of the VTB United League. Oļegs Latiševs (born 1 June 1980), occasionally referred to by his native Russian name Oleg Latyshev ( rus, Олег Латышев), is a Latvian FIBA basketball referee. His cooperation with FIBA started in 2003 and with Euroleague in 2007. Latisevs started to work as a referee already at the age of 15 (1995), when he was awarded the referee licence and was invited as a referee to the Championship of Latvian Youth Basketball League.
