Eugen Dücker
Eugen Gustav Dücker (also ''Eugène Gustav Dücker''; , in Arensburg (now Kuressaare, Estonia) – 6 December 1916, in Düsseldorf) was a Baltic German painter, in the Romantic atyle, associated with the Düsseldorfer Malerschule. Biography He was born to Eduard Dücker (1813–1886), a master carpenter, and his wife, Amalie née Fischer (1810–1880). His younger sister, , also became a painter. His first drawing lessons were with the lithographer, . From 1858 to 1862, he was enrolled at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. There, he studied sculpture with , and landscape painting with Sokrat Vorobiev. Upon graduating, he was awarded a six-year grant for a study trip through Europe. He made lengthy stops in Munich and Karlsruhe, where he took lessons from Karl Friedrich Lessing. In 1864, he went to Düsseldorf, and would remain there for the rest of his life. Kuressaare
Kuressaare () is a town on Saaremaa island in Estonia. It is the administrative centre of Saaremaa Parish and the capital of Saare County. Kuressaare is the westernmost town in Estonia. The recorded population on 1 January 2018 was 13,276. The town is situated on the southern coast of Saaremaa island, facing the Gulf of Riga of the Baltic Sea, and is served by the Kuressaare Airport, Roomassaare harbour, and Kuressaare yacht harbour. The Kunstakademie Düsseldorf is the academy of fine arts of the state of North Rhine Westphalia at the city of Düsseldorf, Germany. Carl Wuttke (3 January 1849, Trzebnica, Trebnitz - 4 July 1927, Munich) was a German landscape and architectural painter. Edgar Meyer (born November 24, 1960) is an American bassist and composer. His styles include classical, bluegrass, newgrass, and jazz. He has won five Grammy Awards and been nominated seven times. Meyer is a member of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival's "house band" super group, along with Sam Bush, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, and Bryan Sutton. Fritz Overbeck
August Friedrich Overbeck, known as Fritz (15 September 1869 in Bremen – 8 June 1909 in Vegesack) was a German painter and engraver. Biography He was the son of the Technical Director at Norddeutscher Lloyd. After graduating from the local Gymnasium, he attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1889 to 1893. Among his teachers there were Eugen Dücker and Peter Janssen. In 1894, he was persuaded by Otto Modersohn to set up a studio at the Artists' Colony in Worpswede, where he became fascinated with painting the desolate moorlands. In 1897, he married one of his students, Hermine Rohte, who had sought him out as a teacher after seeing an exhibition of his works at the Munich Glaspalast. She would also achieve some fame as a painter. Their son, , was a noted botanist. Otto Modersohn
Friedrich Wilhelm Otto Modersohn (22 February 1865, Soest – 10 March 1943, Rotenburg) was a German landscape painter. He was a co-founder of the Art Colony at Worpswede. Life In 1884, he began his studies at the Art Academy of Düsseldorf. Four years later, he moved to the Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe, where he studied under Hermann Baisch. In July 1889, he made his first visit to Worpswede with Fritz Mackensen. In August, Hans am Ende followed. They were later joined by Fritz Overbeck (1893) and Heinrich Vogeler (1894); all students from Düsseldorf. In 1895, they presented their first group exhibition at the Kunsthalle Bremen. Georg Macco
Georg Macco (23 March 1863, Aachen - 20 April 1933, Genoa) was a German landscape painter and illustrator, associated with the Düsseldorfer Malerschule. He is primarily known for his Orientalist works. Biography He was inspired by stories of his great-great-uncle, the history and portrait painter , who painted a portrait of the Queen of Prussia and was a close friend of Beethoven and Goethe. His artistic career began at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 188o, where he studied with Eugen Dücker and Johann Peter Theodor Janssen until 1887.
