Eudlo Creek
Eudlo is a rural town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Eudlo had a population of 1,117 people. Geography Eudlo Creek rises in the south west of Eudlo. Also in the areas is Mossy Bank Mountain, a summit along an easterly protruding spur of the Blackall Range. Eudlo railway station is on the North Coast railway line (). History The name of Eudlo originated from the local Aboriginal term for the fresh water eel (''Anguilla reinhardtii''). Cattlemen and timbergetters came to the area from the 1860s, but land was not made available for agricultural selection until the 1880s. The first selector was James Steele in 1887. In 1891, the section of the North Coast railway line from Landsborough to Yandina was opened. Sunshine Coast, Queensland
The Sunshine Coast is a peri-urban region in South East Queensland, Australia. It is the district defined in 1967 as "the area contained in the Shires of Landsborough, Maroochy and Noosa, but excluding Bribie Island". Located north of the centre of Brisbane in South East Queensland, on the Coral Sea coastline, its urban area spans approximately of coastline and hinterland from Pelican Waters to Tewantin. The area was first settled by Papuasians migrating from northern Australia. Yandina () is a rural town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the the locality of Yandina had a population of 2,371 people. Geography Yandina is in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The Bruce Highway runs through the locality from south to north, passing just east of the town. Its name comes from the local Aboriginal words 'yan', meaning "to go", and 'dinna', meaning "on foot". History Aboriginal people have lived in the Yandina district for over 40,000 years. They belonged to the Gubbi Gubbi language group, which consisted of a number of tribes occupying traditional resource areas. Around Yandina, the Undandi tribal area was east of the present day railway line while the Nalbo area was west of the line. Landsborough is a town and a locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. At the , Landsborough had a population of 4,446 people. Geography Landsborough is in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It is situated north of the Glasshouse Mountains just off Steve Irwin Way, north of Brisbane at the base of the southern end of the Blackall Range. The North Coast railway line enters the locality from the south ( Beerwah), passes through the town in the west of the locality, and then exits the locality to the north-west (Mooloolah Valley). The Shire of Maroochy was a local government area about north of Brisbane in the Sunshine Coast region of South East Queensland, Australia. The shire covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1890 until 2008, when it amalgamated with its neighbours to the north and south to form the Sunshine Coast Region. History In 1842, Andrew Petrie explored the coast north of Brisbane and discovered the Mary River with a small party including two Aboriginal men from the Brisbane River region who spoke the Yuggera language. Their name for the local black swan was "Muru-kutchi" or "red-bill". Petrie hence named the area Maroochy. The area was originally incorporated as part of the Caboolture Divisional Board on 11 November 1879 under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''. Speckled Longfin Eel
The speckled longfin eel, Australian long-finned eel or marbled eel (''Anguilla reinhardtii'') is one of 15 species of eel in the family Anguillidae. It has a long snake-like cylindrical body with its dorsal, tail and anal fins joined to form one long fin. It usually has a brownish green or olive green back and sides with small darker spots or blotches all over its body. Its underside is paler. It has a small gill opening on each side of its wide head, with thick lips. It is Australia's largest freshwater eel, and the female usually grows much larger than the male.
