Eucalyptus Relicta
''Eucalyptus relicta'' is a species of Mallee (habit), mallee that is Endemism, endemic to a small area in the south west of Western Australia. It has rough bark on the trunk and branches, lance-shaped to curved adult leaves, flower buds in groups of between seven and thirteen and hemispherical to conical or cup-shaped fruit. Description ''Eucalyptus relicta'' is a tree, sometimes with branches close to the ground, that typically grows to a height of and forms a lignotuber. The bark on the trunk and branches is thick, dark grey and fissured. Young plants and coppice regrowth have egg-shaped, pointed leaves. Adult leaves are lance-shaped to curved, glossy dark green but paler on the lower side, long and wide, tapering to a Petiole (botany), petiole long. Stephen Hopper
Stephen Donald Hopper AC FLS FTSE (born 18 June 1951) is a Western Australian botanist. He graduated in Biology, specialising in conservation biology and vascular plants. Hopper has written eight books, and has over 200 publications to his name. He was Director of Kings Park in Perth for seven years, and CEO of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority for five. He is currently Foundation Professor of Plant Conservation Biology at The University of Western Australia. He was Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew from 2006 to 2012. This botanist is denoted by the author abbreviation when citing a botanical name. Honours On 1 January 2001, the Australian government awarded Hopper the Centenary Medal for his "service to the community".
