''Eucalyptus neutra'', commonly known as the Newdegate mallee, is a species of Mallee (habit), mallee that is Endemism, endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It has greyish bark, lance-shaped adult leaves, flower buds usually in groups of seven, pale yellow to white flowers and barrel-shaped to shortened spherical fruit. Description ''Eucalyptus neutra'' is a mallee that typically grows to a height of and forms a lignotuber. The bark is smooth cream-coloured to wikt:tan#Noun, tan and peels in short strips to reveal salmon pink to copper-coloured new bark. Young plants and coppice regrowth have egg-shaped to lance-shaped leaves that are long and wide and wikt:Glaucous#Adjective, glaucous. Adult leaves are arranged alternately, lance-shaped, the same shade of dull blish green on both sides, long and wide on a Petiole (botany), petiole long. Ravensthorpe is a town 541 km south-east of Perth and 40 km inland from the south coast of Western Australia. It is the seat of government of the Shire of Ravensthorpe. At the , Ravensthorpe had a population of 438. In 1848, the area was surveyed by Surveyor General John Septimus Roe who named many of the geographical features nearby, including the nearby Ravensthorpe Range that the later town was named after. There was one of the Western Australian Government Railways isolated branch lines between Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe. This line opened in 1909. Alluvial gold was discovered at the Phillips River in 1892. At the goldfield a ''de facto'' town emerged, known as ''Phillips River''.
