Etienne Ys
Etienne Nestor Ys (born 26 February 1962) is a Curaçaoan politician who served as the 23rd and 26th Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles from 2002 to 2003 and again from 2004 to 2006. He previously served as Minister of Finance from 1994 to 1995. Ys was born in Curaçao on 26 February 1962. Ys studied law at the Groningen University and graduated in 1985. 2017 Curaçao General Election
Early general elections were held in Curaçao on 28 April 2017 after the fall of the government led by Hensley Koeiman. Background The previous general elections in 2016 resulted in the formation of a four-party coalition government consisting of MAN, the Real Alternative Party (PAR), the National People's Party (PNP) and Sovereign People (PS), headed by Hensley Koeiman of MAN. However, the PS withdrew from the coalition on 11 February 2017, causing it to lose its majority. Prime Minister Koeiman subsequently submitted his resignation to the governor. Ben Komproe
Benard Komproe (22 October 1942 – 11 October 2004) was a Curaçaoan politician who briefly served as the 24th prime minister of the Netherlands Antilles from 22 July 2003 to 11 August 2003. Komproe was a member of the local party Frente Obrero Liberashon 30 di Mei (FOL), and was fifth on the ballot for the 2003 Curaçao general election. When party leader Anthony Godett was blocked from being appointed ''formateur'' pending a police investigation, Komproe was appointed instead. Komproe was named Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles from 22 July until 11 August 2003. After that, he was replaced by Mirna Louisa-Godett, and became Minister of Justice. As Minister of Justice, Komproe attempted to order the local authorities to cease investigations into his brother Hedwig Komproe. Miguel Arcangel Pourier (29 September 1938 – 23 March 2013) served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles three times. He first served from 6 July 1979 to December 1979; he next served from 31 March 1994 to 14 May 1998 and he last served from 8 November 1999 to 3 June 2002. He belonged to the Bonaire Patriotic Union (UPB) and Party for the Restructured Antilles (PAR). He was born in Rincon, Bonaire. The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten ( nl, Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten, previously the ''Bank of the Netherlands Antilles'') is the central bank for the Netherlands Antillean guilder and administers the monetary policy of Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The bank dates to 1828 making it the oldest surviving central bank in the Americas. Prior to the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in October 2010, the bank was responsible for monetary policy throughout the Netherlands Antilles. When the BES islands became subject to the central bank of the Netherlands, its present name was adopted. The bank is expected to replace the Netherlands Antillean guilder with the Caribbean guilder in the coming years. A formateur (French for "someone who forms, who constitutes") is a politician who is appointed to lead the formation of a coalition government, after either a general election or the collapse of a previous government. The role of the formateur is especially important in the politics of Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Israel and the Czech Republic. These countries have a parliamentary system, where the executive is elected by the legislature. They also use proportional representation for elections to parliament, and have a multiparty system that makes it improbable for one party to win an outright majority. There may be several combinations of parties which might form a coalition. The Formateur is traditionally appointed by the head of state but in the Netherlands that became the right of the Speaker of the Lower house ('president of the Second Chamber') in the early 21st century.
