Estrel Hotel
The Estrel Berlin in Berlin is Europe’s largest convention, entertainment, and hotel complex, and with its 1,125 rooms the largest hotel in Germany. With a total turnover of 100.8 million DM (Deutsche Mark) in the year 2000, the Estrel became the hotel with the highest turnover in Germany, a status which it retained. In 2009 it had a turnover of 50.45 million Euros. The Estrel employs a total of 450 people including trainees, in addition another 150 employees from outside companies and about 100 part-time employees. Private ownership The Estrel does not belong to a hotel chain but is privately owned by the contractor and building namesake Ekkehard Streletzki, who received the industry prize "Hotelier of the Year 2000". Neukölln
Neukölln () is one of the twelve boroughs of Berlin. It is located in the southeastern part from the city centre towards Berlin Schönefeld Airport. It was part of the former American sector under the Four-Power occupation of the city. The Berliner Fernsehturm or Fernsehturm Berlin ( en, Berlin Television Tower) is a television tower in central Berlin, Germany. Estrel Tower
The Estrel Tower is a 176 m tall skyscraper under construction in the Neukölln district of Berlin, Germany. After its completion in 2024 the building will become Berlin's tallest building and Germany's tallest hotel. History In 2013 the Estrel Hotel started a competition for the realization of a high-rise next to the existing hotel building located on the Sonnenallee. The competition was won by Barkow Leibinger (founded by Frank Barkow and Regine Leibinger) who proposed a series of triangulated volumes resembling the game of Tangram in response to the existing hotel building and the low-rise surrounding neighbourhoods.
