Esther De Cáceres
Esther de Cáceres (1903 – February 3, 1971) was a poet and writer from Uruguay. Life Cáceres was born in Montevideo in 1903. She qualified as a doctor in Montevideo. She then taught humanities to trainee teachers whilst becoming part of the intelligentsia of Montevideo. In 1929 she published ''Las ínsulas extrañas'' and in 1931 ''Canción''. She published several other books of poetry including ''Concierto de amor y otros poemas'' which had an introduction by Gabriela Mistral in 1951. Montevideo () is the Capital city, capital and List of cities in Uruguay, largest city of Uruguay. According to the 2011 census, the city proper has a population of 1,319,108 (about one-third of the country's total population) in an area of . Montevideo is situated on the southern coast of the country, on the northeastern bank of the Río de la Plata. The city was established in 1724 by a Spanish soldier, Bruno Mauricio de Zabala, as a strategic move amidst the Spanish people, Spanish-Portuguese people, Portuguese dispute over the La Plata Basin, platine region. Gabriela Mistral
Lucila Godoy Alcayaga (; 7 April 1889 – 10 January 1957), known by her pseudonym Gabriela Mistral (), was a Chilean poet-diplomat, educator and humanist. In 1945 she became the first Latin American author to receive a Nobel Prize in Literature, "for her lyric poetry which, inspired by powerful emotions, has made her name a symbol of the idealistic aspirations of the entire Latin American world". Some central themes in her poems are nature, betrayal, love, a mother's love, sorrow and recovery, travel, and Latin American identity as formed from a mixture of Native American and European influences.
