The Estadio Sonora is a baseball stadium located in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. It is home to the Naranjeros de Hermosillo (Hermosillo Orange Pickers) of the Mexican Pacific League. The Estadio Sonora opened in 2013 and replaced the Estadio Héctor Espino as the home of the Naranjeros. Hermosillo (), formerly called Pitic (as in ''Santísima Trinidad del Pitic'' and ''Presidio del Pitic''), is a city located in the center of the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. Naranjeros De Hermosillo
The Naranjeros de Hermosillo ( en, Hermosillo Orange Growers) are a professional baseball team in the Mexican Pacific League based in Hermosillo, Sonora. The Naranjeros are one of the most successful teams in the league with 16 titles and they were the first Mexico team to win the Caribbean Series, doing so in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1976. History The team was established in 1945 as Queliteros de Hermosillo ( en, Hermosillo Quelite Growers). In 1947, the Queliteros won their first championship in the Liga de la Costa del Pacífico (Pacific Coast League), the competition that preceded the Mexican Pacific League. The Mexican Pacific League (), known as Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico for sponsorship reasons or simply LMP for its acronym in Spanish, is a professional baseball winter league based in Northern Mexico. The ten-team regular season schedule runs from October to December and is followed by a playoff series in January to determine the league champion. The Series was held from February 1 through February 7, featuring the champion teams of the 2012–2013 season in the Dominican Winter League (Leones del Escogido), Mexican Pacific League (Yaquis de Obregón), Puerto Rican Professional Baseball League ( Criollos de Caguas), and Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (Navegantes del Magallanes).
