''Essex Arms'' is the fourth studio album by British singer-songwriter Darren Hayman, his third with his regular backing band the Secondary Modern. It was released by Fortuna Pop! Fortuna POP! was an English independent record label based in London, started in 1995 by Sean Price. It specialised in indie pop music. Fortuna POP! previously promoted gigs under the banner of The Beat Hotel and then Basement Scam at the Buffal ... in 2010. It is the second part of his "Essex Trilogy". Darren Hayman & The Secondary Modern
Darren Hayman (born 1 December 1970) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the writer, lead singer, and guitarist in Hefner. Since Hefner disbanded in 2002, Hayman has embarked on a prolific solo career releasing twelve albums under his own name and appearing on albums by Papernut Cambridge, Rotifer and The Great Electric. He has regularly worked with The Wave Pictures, producing an album for them, directing three of their music videos and briefly employing them as his backing band. In January 2011 Hayman recorded and released a song every day in the month of January, working with many collaborators. Hayman also paints and has exhibited his work at exhibitions about animals in space and racing dogs. Folk Rock

Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Fortuna POP! was an English independent record label based in London, started in 1995 by Sean Price. It specialised in indie pop music. The label has been called an "indie institution". January Songs
''January Songs'' is the fifth studio album by British singer-songwriter Darren Hayman. The album comes from a one-month project undertaken by Hayman whereby each song was written and recorded throughout January 2011 and accompanied by a music video and video diaries. A special anniversary physical release of the album was released in January 2012. A limited edition of 1500 came with sleeves individually hand-drawn by Hayman. Collaborators included The Wave Pictures, Elizabeth Morris from Allo Darlin', Gordon McIntyre from Ballboy, Terry Edwards, DJ Downfall, Rotifer, Valentine Leys, Litoral, The Hillfields, Ghostwriter, Pete Astor, Harvey Williams and former Hefner members Jack Hayter and Antony Harding. Emma-Lee Moss (born 4 November 1983), known by her stage name Emmy the Great, is an English singer-songwriter. She has released four studio albums, ''First Love'', ''Virtue'', ''Second Love'' and ''April / 月音''. She sings in English and in Chinese. Early life and education Moss was born in Hong Kong to an English father and a Chinese mother. Interested in music from a young age, she used to go by train to her nearest Tower Records shop so that she could buy the only non-Chinese music they had and, as a result, she developed a liking for bands such as Weezer, The Smashing Pumpkins, and The Lemonheads.
