In Round 16, 2001, an Australian rules football home-and-away match was played between and the Kangaroos at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 22 July 2001. The match saw the largest successful comeback in the history of the Australian Football League, with Essendon winning by twelve points after trailing by 69 points midway through the second quarter; and, was one of the highest scoring games in the league's history. It is considered the best game of football ever played by some observers. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. David Teague (footballer)
David Teague (born 5 May 1981) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for North Melbourne and Carlton in the Australian Football League and was the senior coach of the Carlton Football Club, from 2019 to 2021. Teague is an assistant coach with the Richmond Football Club. Corey McKernan
Corey McKernan (born 19 December 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Kangaroos and Carlton Blues in the Australian Football League (AFL). Denis Leslie Pagan (born 24 September 1947) is a former Australian rules football coach and player in the VFL/AFL. Pagan is a dual AFL premiership coach, and he also won the prestigious Victoria derby in 2020 as a trainer and owner of the horse “Johnny Get Angry.” This victory made him the first Australian sports figure to win an AFL premiership as a coach and train a group 1 horse race winner. Adam Ramanauskas (born 19 November 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Essendon Football Club. Mark 'MJ' Johnson (born 23 May 1978) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club and Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Danny Jacobs (footballer)
Daniel "Danny" Jacobs (born 25 June 1980) is a former Australian rules football player who played with the Essendon Football Club and Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League. Essendon career Jacobs played for Essendon from 1999 to 2003, including the 2001 AFL Grand Final loss to Brisbane. Chris Joel Heffernan (born 29 January 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). Gary Moorcroft (born 16 April 1976) is a former Australian rules football player for Essendon and Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). Moorcroft caught the attention of talent scouts by winning the Morrish Medal in 1994 whilst playing for the Northern Knights.
