Esquerra Republicana Del País Valencià
Republican Left of the Valencian Country ( ca, Esquerra Republicana del País Valencià, ERPV) is a Valencian left nationalist and republican party. The original ERPV was founded in 1933, then disbanded in 1935. In 2000 the vacant ERPV name was taken by the party resulting from the merge of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya's (ERC) Valencian section and the Front pel País Valencià (Front for the Valencian Country). ERPV is currently the main explicit sponsor of the Catalan Countries independence in the Valencian Country, where poor electoral results so far limit its participation to a marginal role. Catalan Nationalism
Catalan nationalism is the ideology asserting that the Catalans are a distinct nation. Intellectually, modern Catalan nationalism can be said to have commenced as a political philosophy in the unsuccessful attempts to establish a federal state in Spain in the context of the First Republic (1873-1874). Valentí Almirall i Llozer and other intellectuals that participated in this process set up a new political ideology in the 19th century, to restore self-government, as well as to obtain recognition for the Catalan language. These demands were summarized in the so-called ''Bases de Manresa'' in 1892. It met very little support at first. Catalan Countries
The Catalan Countries ( ca, països catalans, , ) refers to those territories where the Catalan language is spoken. They include the Spanish regions of Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Valencian Community, Valencia, and parts of Aragon (''La Franja'') and Region of Murcia, Murcia (Carche), as well as the Andorra, Principality of Andorra, the department of Pyrénées-Orientales (aka Northern Catalonia, including Cerdanya, Cerdagne, Roussillon, and Vallespir) in France, and the city of Alghero in Sardinia (Italy).
