Esporte Clube Macapá, commonly referred to as Macapá (), is a Brazilian football club based in Macapá, Amapá. The team competes in the Campeonato Amapaense, the top division in the Amapá state football league system. It was founded on 7 September 1941. Macapá had a historic rivalry with Amapá Clube, with whom they played the ''Clássico Vovô''. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state. Qualification rules varied, some federations used the state tournaments as qualification tournaments, others organized exclusive qualification tournaments to the Série C. Amapá Clube
Amapá Clube, commonly referred to as simply Amapá, was a Brazilian football club based in Macapá, Amapá. Founded in 1944, it last competed in the 2008 Campeonato Amapaense before folding in 2015 due to continuing financial constraints. They were the second-most successful club in the amateur era of the ''Amapazão'' with 10 titles to their name. The most successful period in their history was in the late 1980s, when they won the league in three consecutive years, between 1986 and 1988. Following the professionalization of football in Amapá, however, their highest finishing position was of second place in 1991, 1993, 1998, 2005 and 2006. The club was located in the centre of Macapá and traditionally wore black-and-white striped shirts, black shorts and white socks. 2018 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The 2018 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the fourth division. The competition started on 21 April and ended on 4 August 2018. Sixty-eight teams competed in the tournament. Sixty-four teams qualified from their state leagues and cups, and four relegated from the 2017 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C (ASA, Macaé, Mogi Mirim and Moto Club). Ferroviário, Imperatriz, São José and Treze qualified for the semi-finals and were promoted to the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. Ferroviário won the title after defeating Treze in the final.
