Esperion
Esperies ( el, Εσπερίες) is a former municipality on the island of Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece. Since the 2019 local government reform it is part of the municipality North Corfu, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located in the northwest corner of the island of Corfu. It has a land area of and a population of 6,990 (2011 census). The seat of the municipality was the town of Velonades (pop. 392). Its largest towns are Karousades (pop. 991), Avliotes (830), Peroulades (673), and Velonades. Ionian Islands (region)
The Ionian Islands Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Ιονίων Νήσων, translit=Periféria Ioníon Níson, ) is the smallest by area of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece located in the Ionian Sea. It comprises all the Ionian Islands except Kythera, which, although historically part of the island group, was separated and integrated to the Attica Region. Demographics The population of the Ionian Islands in 2011 was 207,855, decreased by 1.5% compared to the population in 2001. Nevertheless, the region remains the third by population density with 90.1/km2 nationwide, well above the national of 81.96/km2. The most populous of the major islands is Corfu with a population of 104,371, followed by Zante (40,759), Cephalonia (35,801), Leucas (23,693) and Ithaca (3,231). Faiakes ( el, Φαίακες) is a former municipality on the island of Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece. Since the 2019 local government reform it is part of the municipality Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, of which it is a municipal unit. Thinali
Thinali ( el, Θινάλι) is a former municipality on the island of Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece. Since the 2019 local government reform it is part of the municipality North Corfu, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located in the northernmost part of the island of Corfu, in the middle of the north coast. With its 77.899 km², it was the largest municipality on the island. Its population was 5,226 at the 2011 census. The seat of the municipality was the town of Acharavi (pop. 1,013). Its largest other towns are Nymfes (pop. 612) and Epískepsi (332). Ionian Sea
The Ionian Sea ( el, Ιόνιο Πέλαγος, ''Iónio Pélagos'' ; it, Mar Ionio ; al, Deti Jon ) is an elongated bay of the Mediterranean Sea. It is connected to the Adriatic Sea to the north, and is bounded by Southern Italy, including Calabria, Sicily, and the Salento peninsula to the west, southern Albania (and western Apulia, Italy) to the north, and the west coast of Greece, including the Peloponnese. Agios Stefanos Avliotes
Agios Stefanos ( el, Άγιος Στέφανος, meaning Saint Stephen) was originally a fishing village for the nearby village of Avliotes located on the north west coast of Corfu island. In 2011, its population was 176. It is located 35 km from Corfu town, approximate transfer time by car is 1h 15 min. It has a safe harbor on the north west side of Corfu Island, where the four Diapontia Islands (Othonoi, Erikoussa, Mathraki and Diaplo) can be seen, while further away the Adriatic Sea is the natural frontier between Greece and Italy. Fishing is still a very important part of the local economy. Agios Stefanos (Beach) attracts a number of tourists each summer. The village still has its old church where it gets its name and some pretty old traditional buildings; it offers a few hotels and apartments, there are also a variety of tavernas/restaurants and an assortment of bars. Corfu ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Κερκύρας) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Ionian Islands. The capital of the regional unit is the town of Corfu. The regional unit consists of the islands of Corfu, Paxoi, Othonoi, Ereikoussa, Mathraki and several smaller islands, all in the Ionian Sea.
