Espen Agdestein
Espen Agdestein (born 7 February 1965) is the former manager of current Chess World Champion Magnus Carlsen (until 2021). He is the brother of chess grandmaster and former coach of Magnus Carlsen, Simen Agdestein, and is himself a FIDE master, with a FIDE rating of 2372. Espen is one of the co-founders and partners of Idekapital, the largest Venture Capital Fund in Norway. Idekapital manages over NOK 500 million and invests in Norwegian startup companies in need of growth capital. He founded Idekapital together with Anders Brandt, Rune Holen and Kristian Øvsthus. He is part owner and sits in the board of directors in Magnus Carlsen's company Play Magnus, where Anders Brandt is chairman and Kate Murphy is the CEO. FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Titles generally require a combination of Elo rating and norms (performance benchmarks in competitions including other titled players). Magnus Carlsen
Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen (born 30 November 1990) is a Norwegian chess grandmaster who is the reigning five-time World Chess Champion. He is also a three-time World Rapid Chess Champion and five-time World Blitz Chess Champion. Carlsen has held the position in the FIDE world chess rankings since 1 July 2011 and trails only Garry Kasparov in time spent as the highest-rated player in the world. His peak rating of 2882 is the highest in history. He also holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak at the elite level in classical chess. A chess prodigy, Carlsen finished first in the C group of the Corus chess tournament shortly after he turned 13 and earned the title of grandmaster a few months later. Simen Agdestein
Simen Agdestein (born 15 May 1967) is a Norwegian chess grandmaster, chess coach, author, and former professional footballer as a striker for the Norway national football team. Agdestein won eight Norwegian Chess Championships between 1982 and 2022. He is also the former coach of Magnus Carlsen, and brother of Carlsen's manager, Espen Agdestein. He has authored and co-authored several books on chess, including a biography of Carlsen. Chess career Agdestein became Norwegian national champion at the age of 15, an International Master at 16 and a grandmaster at 18. Anders Brandt
Anders Brandt, (born 24. December 1960 in Oslo) is a serial entrepreneur. He is the chairman of Idekapital AS which is owned by him and his family. Brandt is part owner and chairman of the board in Magnus Carlsen's company Play Magnus, and its angel investor and first creative director. He has close ties to Chess World Champion Magnus Carlsen and his team. Magnus Carlsen's manager Espen Agdestein is a board member at Play Magnus Group. His former colleague at Idekapital, Kate Murphy, is the CEO of Play Magnus. Brandt bought his first computer in 1977 to learn to program. Brandt's first employment was as a copywriter.
