Espaillat Province
Espaillat () is one of the 32 provinces of the Dominican Republic. It is divided into 5 municipalities and its capital city is Moca. Located in north-central Dominican Republic (Cibao), it is bordered by the provinces of La Vega to the south, Santiago and Puerto Plata to the west, and María Trinidad Sánchez to the north-east. The province has a coastline to the north with the Atlantic Ocean. It is named for Ulises Francisco Espaillat (1823–1878), the 19th-century author who was briefly President of the Republic in 1876. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. The team may touch the ball up to three times to return the ball to the other side of the court, but individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively. ... Dahiana Burgos
Rossy Dahiana Burgos Herrera (born April 7, 1985 in Santo Domingo) is a volleyball and beach volleyball player from the Dominican Republic. She won the bronze medal with the women's national team at the 2005 Pan American Cup in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She plays as a wing-spiker. Career Burgos represented her home country at the 2005 Women's U20 Volleyball World Championship, and her team finished in the 9th position. She played for the Dominican club Villa Verde in 2006. She also participated in the 2007 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit with Rosalin Angeles, finishing in the 10th position. She played for Pueblo Nuevo in 2008. Francisca Duarte
Francisca Duarte ( Antwerp, 1595 – Gest Alkmaar, 1640) was a Portuguese singer. She was active as a court singer at the court of the governor in the Spanish Netherlands. She was the daughter of the banker and jeweler Diego Duarte (1545? -1628) and Leonora Duarte Rodrigues (1565? -1632?), Jewish converts to Catholicism who emigrated from Portugal to the Spanish Netherlands, and married Francisco Ferdinand du Pas (1586-1646) in 1613. Evelyn Carrera Pichardo (born October 5, 1971 in Santo Domingo) is a retired female volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, wearing the number #5 jersey. There she ended up in eleventh place with the Dominican Republic women's national team. Carrera played as a libero. Career Evelyn win the silver medal at the 2002 Pan-American Cup held in Mexicali, Mexico; she also was awarded Best Libero for the tournament.
