''Esoteric'' is the fourth studio album by Swedish metal band Skyfire. It was released on 14 September in the United Kingdom, 18 September for the rest of Europe and October 13, 2009 in North America, through Pivotal Rockordings. The cover artwork was made by Pär Olofsson who also created the artwork for other acts such as The Faceless, Psycroptic and Spawn of Possession along with the layout by Erik Olofsson of Cult of Luna. Martin Hanner revealed that the album is a concept album and that "The cover is basically a guy who is being initiated by a cult," he further responded with: The band was also going for an epic sound inspired by the likes of Symphony X and Bal-Sagoth. A choir and orchestra was said to be added to their overall sound but it is unclear as to what extent they would be used. Skyfire (band)
Skyfire is a Swedish melodic death metal band, from Höör, Sweden. Biography Skyfire was formed in the town of Höör, Sweden in 1995 by Andreas Edlund (guitar), Martin Hanner (bass guitar), Jonas Sjögren (guitar) and Tobias Björk ( drums). The four were friends since high school and had similar tastes in music. The band recorded two demos: ''Within Reach'' and ''The Final Story''. On the second demo, the vocals were performed by Henrik Wenngren. Skyfire got in touch with band members of Thyrfing who helped them find a record label with Dutch label Hammerheart Records. During two weeks in August 2000, Skyfire recorded their debut album '' Timeless Departure'' in the Abyss Studio. In September 2002, the band recorded their second album '' Mind Revolution'', again in the Abyss Studio with new drummer Joakim Jonsson. Cult Of Luna
Cult of Luna is a Swedish heavy metal band from Umeå founded in 1998. They are known for post-metal music similar to the contemporary bands Neurosis and Isis. The band was signed to Earache Records in the early 2000s and released five albums, including the commercially successful albums ''Salvation'' (2004) and ''Somewhere Along the Highway'' (2006). After an extended period of inactivity, Cult of Luna returned with its Indie Recordings debut ''Vertikal'' (2013) and companion EP '' Vertikal II'' (2013), both drawing inspiration from Fritz Lang's 1927 film, ''Metropolis''.
