Esmail Bakhshi
Esmail Bakhshi (Persian: اسماعیل بخشی; born 18 June 1983) is an Iranian activist, political prisoner, trade unionist, and a founding member and the independent Workers Union of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Agro Industrial Company (Persian: شرکت نیشکر هفتتپه) in the Khuzestan Province of Iran. Arrests On November 18, 2018 Esmail Bakhshi was arrested, together with more than a dozen other workers, during labor protests at the local sugar factory in the Iranian city of Shush. All of those arrested were soon released on bail with the notable exception of Esmail Bakhshi who was held, without charge or legal representation, on the suspicion of crimes against "national security". The Iranian Ministry of Labor announced that it is unable to intervene on Bakhshi's behalf because of the nature of the case. The Islamic Consultative Assembly ( fa, مجلس شورای اسلامی, Majles-e Showrā-ye Eslāmī), also called the Iranian Parliament, the Iranian Majles (Arabicised spelling Majlis) or ICA, is the national legislative body of Iran. Ali Nejati
Ali Nejati (علی نجاتی) is an Iranian labor activist and a member of the managing board of the labor union representing employees of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company. Nejati has been active in the Iranian trade unionist movement for over a decade. In the late 2000s, he served as the president of Haft Tappeh Workers Union for a while before he was arrested and imprisoned because of his activism. Most recently, on November 29, 2018 Nejati was arrested and charged with "disrupting public order", "collusion and assembly against national security" and "cooperation in establishing a group intended to disrupt peace and security". The 2018–2019 Iranian general strikes and protests were a series of strikes and protests that took place across Iran from early 2018 until mid-2019 against the country's economic situation, as well as the Iranian government, as part of the wider Iranian Democracy Movement. Timeline 2018 April On 14 April 2018, Baneh shopkeepers started strikes which continued for twenty days. May In late May, Iranian truckers staged a major nationwide strike over low wages and poor working conditions. It lasted until mid June and was the first in series of strikes that continued until late 2018 (see below). Hesamoddin Ashna ( fa, حسامالدین آشنا; born 18 August 1964 in Tehran) is an Iranian politician. He is a former advisor to President Hassan Rouhani and a former head of Center for Strategic Studies. Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i ( fa, غلامحسین محسنی اژهای, Ğolām-Hoseyn Mohseni Eže'i, ; born 29 September 1956) is an Iranian conservative politician, Islamic jurist and prosecutor who currently serves as Chief Justice of Iran. He was the minister of intelligence from 2005 to July 2009, when he was abruptly dismissed. He has also held a number of governmental posts since 1984.
