Ese (river)
The Ese (french: Ese or Rivière d'Ese) is a river in the department of Corse-du-Sud, Corsica, France. It is a tributary of the Prunelli river, which it joins in the Lac de Tolla. Course The Ese is long. It crosses the communes of Bastelica, Ciamannacce, Frasseto, Guitera-les-Bains, Tasso and Tolla. It rises in the commune of Ciamannacce to the north of the Monte Giovanni. It passes a ski resort, the Val d'Ese, in its upper reaches. It flows in a generally southwest direction, then turns west and joins the Prunelli at the head of Lac de Tolla. The D27a leads from Bastelica for to the Ese plateau at . In winter there is a downhill and cross-country ski resort here. If there is no snow, visitors can hike in the Pozzines. Lower down, the Ese is crossed by the magnificent Zipitoli Genoese bridge near its confluence with the Prunelli. The bridge is near the point where the D27 crosses the Ese, and can be reached by a short walk. The Lac de Tolla is formed by a dam (Barrage d ...

Early Streamer Emission
A lightning rod or lightning conductor ( British English) is a metal rod mounted on a structure and intended to protect the structure from a lightning strike. If lightning hits the structure, it will preferentially strike the rod and be conducted to ground through a wire, instead of passing through the structure, where it could start a fire or cause electrocution. Lightning rods are also called finials, air terminals, or strike termination devices. In a lightning protection system, a lightning rod is a single component of the system. The lightning rod requires a connection to earth to perform its protective function. Lightning rods come in many different forms, including hollow, solid, pointed, rounded, flat strips, or even bristle brush-like. The main attribute common to all lightning rods is that they are all made of conductive materials, such as copper and aluminum. Copper and its alloys are the most common materials used in lightning protection. History The principl ...

East-southeast
The points of the compass are a set of horizontal, radially arrayed compass directions (or azimuths) used in navigation and cartography. A compass rose is primarily composed of four cardinal directions—north, east, south, and west—each separated by 90 degrees, and secondarily divided by four ordinal (intercardinal) directions—northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest—each located halfway between two cardinal directions. Some disciplines such as meteorology and navigation further divide the compass with additional azimuths. Within European tradition, a fully defined compass has 32 'points' (and any finer subdivisions are described in fractions of points). Compass points are valuable in that they allow a user to refer to a specific azimuth in a colloquial fashion, without having to compute or remember degrees. Designations The names of the compass point directions follow these rules: 8-wind compass rose * The four cardinal directions are north (N), east (E), ...

Easy Serving Espresso Pod
The Easy Serving Espresso pod (E.S.E. pod), is a small packed coffee pod with a paper filter covering for use in a non-grinding espresso machine. The E.S.E. standard was created by Italian Illy in the 1970s and is maintained by the "Consortium for the Development and the Protection of the E.S.E. Standard." It is open to all coffee roasters and machine manufacturers, making it the self-acclaimed "only ''open'' system available to the sector for espresso coffee prepared with paper pods".''The E.S.E. Standard: What is the ESE standard?''
Website of the ESE consortium (retrieved on 31 July 2016).

Description

Each E.S.E. pod contains seven grams of coffee compressed into filter pod with a 44mm diameter. In ...

Ethical Sensory Extrovert
Socionics, in psychology and sociology, is a pseudoscientific theory of information processing and personality types. It incorporates Carl Jung's work on '' Psychological Types'' with Antoni Kępiński's theory of information metabolism. Socionics is modification of Jung's personality type theory that uses eight psychic functions instead of four. These cognitive functions are supposed to process information at varying levels of competency and interact with the corresponding function in other individuals, giving rise to predictable reactions and impressions—a theory of intertype relations. In contrast to the generally accepted views in personality psychology on age-related variability of the human psyche, socionics distinguishes 16 рsychophysiological types or types of informational metabolism unchanged throughout life. The issue of the existence of personality types is considered by modern personality psychology to be extremely controversial. However, the immutability of ...

European School Of Economics
The European School of Economics (ESE) is a private college of higher education. It is accredited by ASIC, validated by Richmond, The American International University in London, and is an officially approved Learning Provider (UKPRN 10061489). ESE offers UK bachelor's degree, master's degree, MBA, and specialised short programmes at its centres in London, Rome, Milan, Florence, and Madrid. History The European School of Economics was founded in Italy in 1994. Each country has its own local management. In 1997, former President of the Soviet Union and Nobel Peace Prize winner Mikhail Gorbachev, addressed ESE's students as part of the "Peace is Economy" conference, organized by ESE for the inauguration of the Academic Year In 2013 the European School of Economics UK Ltd. (ESE Foundation) became a charity.. ESE campuses are presently managed by ESE Italy, ESE Spain, ESE Insight Ltd, and ESE New York Inc. In 2021 ESE was the winner of the 'Global Student Satisfaction Awards' b ...

Exonic Splicing Enhancer
In molecular biology, an exonic splicing enhancer (ESE) is a DNA sequence motif consisting of 6 bases within an exon that directs, or enhances, accurate splicing of heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) or pre-mRNA into messenger RNA (mRNA). Introduction Short sequences of DNA are transcribed to RNA; then this RNA is translated to a protein. A gene located in DNA will contain introns and exons. Part of the process of preparing the RNA includes splicing out the introns, sections of RNA that do not code for the protein. The presence of exonic splicing enhancers is essential for proper identification of splice sites by the cellular machinery. Role in splicing SR proteins bind to and promote exon splicing in regions with ESEs, while heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein particles (hnRNPs) bind to and block exon splicing in regions with exonic splicing silencers. Both types of proteins are involved in the assembly and proper functioning of spliceosomes. During RNA splicing, U2 small n ...

Exoskeletal Engine
The exoskeletal engine (ESE) is a concept in turbomachinery design. Current gas turbine engines have central rotating shafts and fan-discs and are constructed mostly from heavy metals. They require lubricated bearings and need extensive cooling for hot components. They are also subject to severe imbalance (or vibrations) that could wipe out the whole rotor stage, are prone to high- and low-cycle fatigue, and subject to catastrophic failure due to disc bursts from high tensile loads, consequently requiring heavy containment devices.Chamis, Christos C. and Isaiah M. Blankso"Exo-Skeletal Engine – Novel Engine Concept". NASA, 2006.Retrieved: 5 May 2019 To address these limitations, the ESE concept turns the conventional configuration inside-out and utilizes a drum-type rotor design for the turbomachinery in which the rotor blades are attached to the inside of a rotating drum instead of radially outwards from a shaft and discs. Multiple drum rotors could be used in a multi-spool desig ...
