Ersan Saner
Hamza Ersan Saner (born 1966) served as the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus from 9 December 2020 to 5 November 2021. President Ersin Tatar gave the task of establishing the government on 7 November 2020 to Ersan Saner, as he would temporarily serve as its chair until the National Unity Party Congress. After 14 days of contacts with other political parties, he was unable to form a government and returned the post on 21 November 2020. After the Leader of the Republican Turkish Party, Tufan Erhürman, who was given the task of forming the government, could not form the government, Ersan Saner was assigned to form the government for the second time on 7 December 2020. On 8 December 2020, the National Unity Party - Democratic Party and the Rebirth Party Coalition Government protocol was signed. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus takes place in a framework of a semi-presidential representative democratic republic. The president is head of state and the prime minister head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Assembly of the Republic. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. The prime minister must control a majority of parliament in order to govern. There have been ten prime ministers of Northern Cyprus since 1983. The premiership's precursor was a post known as the "president of the Turkish Cypriot Communal Chamber". The only man to occupy this post was Rauf Denktaş from 29 December 1969 to 5 July 1976. The Council of Ministers ( tr, Bakanlar Kurulu) is the executive branch of the government of the unrecognized state Northern Cyprus, consisting of ministers. The council is chaired by the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus and the ministers head executive departments of the government. The President of Northern Cyprus reserved the right to chair the Council of Ministers, albeit without voting. The maximum number of ministries, as defined by the constitution, is ten. The Council of Ministers is appointed by the Prime Minister, and the program of the government needs to be read out in the Assembly of the Republic within a week of the appointment. The cabinet then needs to receive a vote of confidence by the majority of the members of the Assembly. Rebirth Party (Northern Cyprus)
The Rebirth Party ( tr, Yeniden Doğuş Partisi, YDP) is a political party in Northern Cyprus. It was founded on 7 October 2016. Its leader is Erhan Arıklı, a professor, and its Secretary General is Turan Büyükyılmaz. Arıklı has stated that the ideological basis of the party is "allegiance to the motherland, Turkey" and "to ensure the survival of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus". However, the party strongly rejects the classification of Northern Cyprus as the "daughter country" of Turkey and states that it advocates an equal relationship between Turkey and Northern Cyprus as independent states. Tufan Erhürman
Tufan Erhürman (born 1970) is a Turkish Cypriot academic, lawyer, diplomat and a former Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus. A scholar in public law by profession, he served in the negotiations to solve the Cyprus dispute between 2008 and 2010. He previously worked for the Ministry of Justice of Turkey between 1999 and 2004 and worked for the establishment of the position of ombudsman in Turkey. He is the current leader of Republican Turkish Party. He held the office of Prime Minister beginning January 2018 as the leader of a four-party coalition. The Republican Turkish Party ( tr, Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi, CTP) is a social-democratic political party in Northern Cyprus. The party was founded in 1970 by Ahmet Mithat Berberoğlu, a lawyer, in opposition to the leadership of Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Denktaş.
