Ernst Neubach
Ernst Neubach (3 January 1900 – 21 May 1968) was an Austrian screenwriter, producer and director. Biography Of Jewish descent, Neubach was a veteran of World War I, after which he worked as a master of ceremonies in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. He wrote lyrics for songs and over 2,000 hits, including ''I've lost my heart in Heidelberg'' (1925) and '' In Heaven There Is No Beer'' (1956). Successful operetta librettos include ''Gentleman Jack'' (Music: Carita by Horst). With the dawn of the talkie era, he began to write screenplays for musical comedies. After the Nazis seized power in 1933, Neubach lived mostly in Vienna. On 9 March 1937, he became a member of the Patriotic Front. After the Anschluss, Neubach emigrated to France. ''I Lost My Heart in Heidelberg'' (german: Ich hab' mein Herz in Heidelberg verloren) is a 1952 West German romantic musical film directed by Ernst Neubach and starring Eva Probst, Adrian Hoven and Paul Hörbiger. The film takes its title from the popular song '' I Lost My Heart in Heidelberg'', whose lyrics Neubach had co-written in the 1920s.Bergfelder, p. 117 It was part of a strong trend towards heimatfilm productions set in romanticised Southern Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Robert Siodmak
Robert Siodmak (; 8 August 1900 – 10 March 1973) was a German film director who also worked in the United States. He is best remembered as a thriller specialist and for a series of films noirs he made in the 1940s, such as ''The Killers'' (1946). Early life Siodmak was born in Dresden, Germany, the son of Rosa Philippine (née Blum) and Ignatz Siodmak and the brother of Curt, Werner and Roland. His parents were both from Jewish families in Leipzig (the myth of his American birth in Memphis, Tennessee was necessary for him to obtain a visa in Paris during World War II). He worked as a stage director and a banker before becoming editor and scenarist for Curtis Bernhardt in 1925 (Bernhardt directed a film of Siodmak's story ''Conflict'' in 1945). Karl Hartl (10 May 1899 – 29 August 1978) was an Austrian film director. Life Born in Vienna, Hartl began his film career at the Austrian Sascha-Film company of Alexander Kolowrat and from 1919 was assistant to the Hungarian director Alexander Korda. As a production manager, he in the 1920s accompanied Korda to Berlin, until in 1926 he returned to Vienna to work for his former class-mate director Gustav Ucicky. Hans Wilhelm (18 October 1904 – 23 December 1980) was a German screenwriter. Wilhelm was of Jewish heritage,Prawer p.212 and was forced to emigrate following the Nazi takeover in 1933. Richard Oswald (5 November 1880 – 11 September 1963) was an Austrian film director, producer, screenwriter, and father of German-American film director Gerd Oswald. Early career Richard Oswald, born in Vienna as Richard W. Ornstein, began his career as an actor on the Viennese stage. He made his film directorial debut at age 34 with ''The Iron Cross'' (1914) and worked a number of times for Jules Greenbaum. In 1916, Oswald set up his own production company in Germany, writing and directing most of his films himself.
