Ernie Janet
Ernest Jay "Ernie" Janet (born July 22, 1949) is a former American football player, a guard in the National Football League (NFL). Early years Born in Renton, Washington, Janet attended Glacier High School in Burien, and played college football at the University of Washington in Seattle under head coach Jim Owens. On the Husky offensive line, he played alongside center Bruce Jarvis; in their senior season in 1970, the Huskies improved to 6–4 with sophomore Sonny Sixkiller at quarterback. NFL career Janet was selected in the second round of the 1971 NFL Draft (37th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers. He later played three seasons with the Chicago Bears then split the 1975 season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers. Alex L. "Sonny" Sixkiller (born September 6, 1951) is a former American football player and sports commentator. He is currently a senior manager for business development for Huskies Sports Properties, the rights-holder for University of Washington Athletics. Early years Sonny Sixkiller, a member of the Cherokee Nation, was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. A year later, he moved with his family to Ashland, Oregon where his father worked in a lumber mill. He attended Ashland High School and was a good student and a letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. In football, Sixkiller was an All-Southern Oregon Conference selection and a second team all-state selection. He was a back-up at quarterback as a sophomore to senior Gene Willis, who later played at Washington. In basketball, he was an all-conference selection. The 1975 Green Bay Packers season was their 57th season overall and their 55th season in the National Football League. Under new head coach Bart Starr, they finished at 4–10, last in the four-team NFC Central division. The Packers opened with four losses, then beat the Super Bowl-bound Dallas Cowboys on the road for Starr's first coaching win. After a 1–8 start, Green Bay ended the season on a positive note, winning three of their final five games. The 1975 Philadelphia Eagles season was the franchise’s 43rd in the National Football League. 1975 was the third season under head coach Mike McCormack, but became the Eagles’ ninth consecutive season without a winning record. The Eagles also missed the playoffs for a fifteenth consecutive season, a franchise record. Following the season, McCormack was fired and replaced for 1976 by Dick Vermeil.
