Ernesto De La Peña
Ernesto de la Peña (; 21 November 1927 – 10 September 2012) was a Mexican writer, translator and cultural advocate. Peña was also a linguist and polyglot who studied thirty-three languages, as varied as Latin language, Latin, Greek language, Greek, Hebrew language, Hebrew and Sanskrit language, Sanskrit. He joined the Mexican Academy of the Language in 1993 and was a member of the Royal Spanish Language Academy. He studied classical literature at National Autonomous University of Mexico. His most famous books included ''The Stratagems of God'', published in 1988; ''The Indelible Borrelli Case'' in 1992; ''Mineralogy For Intruders'' in 1999; and ''The Transfigured Rose'', also released in 1999. Menéndez Pelayo International Prize
The Menéndez Pelayo International Prize has been awarded since 1987 by the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) with the objective of honoring those persons whose literary or scientific work has a humanistic orientation and application, in the tradition of the University's namesake Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo. It was established with the generous support of Eulalio Ferrer, a Spanish-Mexican entrepreneur and academician. Citizens of any Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking country are eligible. Nominations for the prize are made by universities and academies, as well as other organizations involved in the literary, humanistic or scientific cultures of those countries. Manuel Gómez Morín
Manuel Gómez Morín (27 February 1897 – 19 April 1972) was a Mexican politician. He was a founding member of the National Action Party, and one of its theoreticians. Prior to this he was considered a leading figure in Mexican monetary policy, one of the so-called Siete Sabios de México (''Seven Sages of Mexico''). Early life Gómez Morín was born in the old mining town of Batopilas in the state of Chihuahua on 27 February 1897. His father Manuel Gómez Castillo (of Spanish origin) died at age 24, shortly after his son was born. His mother, Concepción Morín de Avellano, was a native of Parral, Chihuahua. His widowed mother sold their small home and moved to Parral around 1911, from there they moved to the city of Chihuahua. Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano (; born 1 May 1934) is a Mexican prominent politician. The son of 51st President of Mexico Lázaro Cárdenas, he is a former Head of Government of Mexico City and a founder of the Party of the Democratic Revolution. He ran for the presidency of Mexico three times, and his 1988 loss to the Institutional Revolutionary Party candidate Carlos Salinas de Gortari had long been considered a direct result of obvious electoral fraud perpetrated by the ruling PRI, later acknowledged by President Miguel de la Madrid. He previously served as a Senator, having been elected in 1976 to represent the state of Michoacán and also as the Governor of Michoacán from 1980 to 1986. Belisario Domínguez Medal Of Honor
The Belisario Domínguez Medal of Honor (Spanish: ''Medalla de Honor "Belisario Domínguez" del Senado de la República'') is the highest award bestowed by the Mexican Senate. It forms part of the Mexican Honors System and is currently Mexico's highest active award since there are no records of the ''Condecoración "Miguel Hidalgo"'' being presented since 1979. The award has been given every year since 1954 by the Senate of Mexico to eminent Mexicans with a distinguished lifetime career who contributed most "toward the welfare of the Nation and mankind". Only Mexican entities representing "the cultural spirit of the time" are allowed to submit nominations for this award. Santander, Spain
Santander () is the capital of the autonomous community and historical region of Cantabria situated on the north coast of Spain. It is a port city located east of Gijón and west of Bilbao with a population of 172,000 (2017). It is believed to have been a port since ancient times, due to its favorable location, and is documented as far back as the 11th century. Much of the medieval city was lost in the Great Fire of 1941.
