Ernest Bevin Academy
Ernest Bevin Academy is a secondary school for boys and a mixed sixth form located in Tooting, London, England. The school is all-boys for ages 11 through 18, and has a co-educational sixth form. It has about 1,173 pupils. The school was judged as 'requiring improvement' in a November 2018 report by Ofsted. The school was judged as "Good" in a June 2022 report by Ofsted. History The school was named after Ernest Bevin (1881–1951), a British labour leader and politician. It was formed through merging the two adjacent schools of Bec Grammar and Hillcroft Secondary Modern in 1971. The school was briefly named Bec-Hillcroft until 1971 when it became Ernest Bevin School. It was renamed Ernest Bevin College in 1996 . Hillcroft Secondary School, Bec-Hillcroft and Ernest Bevin School ran under the aegis of the Inner London Education Authority until it was abolished by the Education Reform Act 1988. Mathematics and Computing Colleges were introduced in England in 2002 and Northern Ireland in 2006 as part of the Government's Specialist Schools programme which was designed to raise standards in secondary education. Specialist schools focus on their chosen specialism but must also meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and deliver a broad and balanced education to all their pupils. Mathematics and Computing Colleges must focus on mathematics and either computing or ICT. Colleges are expected to disseminate good practice and share resources with other schools and the wider community. Ortis Deley ( ) (born 2 June 1973) is a British television presenter, comedian, singer, radio DJ and actor of Ghanaian and Nigerian descent, best known for presenting the Children's BBC Saturday morning flagship series ''Live & Kicking''. Sean Davis (footballer)
Sean Davis (born 20 September 1979) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He made his professional debut for Fulham in 1996 and went on to make over 150 league appearances for the club. He joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2004. In January 2006, he signed for Portsmouth, helping them avoid relegation and then win the FA Cup in 2008. Michael Bowron QPM is a retired British police officer. From 2011 to July 2017 he was Chief Officer of States of Jersey Police. Eric Yamoah Boateng (born 20 November 1985) is a British professional basketball player. He is a former college basketball player with the Arizona State Sun Devils men's basketball team. He attended high school at St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Delaware. Boateng committed to Duke University out of high school, but transferred after one season to Arizona State.
