Erling Olsen (trade Unionist)
Erling Olsen (1901–1983) was a Norwegian trade unionist. He was a trade unionist before the war, a secretary in Norwegian Union of Municipal Employees. He was also a member of ''Mot Dag'' for some time. From 1940 Norway was occupied by Nazi Germany. Together with people like Håkon Meyer and Kåre Rein he joined '' Fagopposisjonen av 1940'' in 1940 and the Fascist party Nasjonal Samling in December 1940. Following the Milk strike a more Nazi-friendly leadership was installed in the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions, with Odd Fossum as leader, Erling Olsen as deputy leader and Kåre Rein as secretary. Olsen was even acting leader from 10 September 1941 to 31 December 1942. In the autumn, Håkon Meyer was fired as leader of the mega-union ''Forbundet for offentlige yrker''. ''Verdens Gang'' ("The course of the world"), generally known under the abbreviation ''VG'', is a Norwegian tabloid newspaper. In 2016, circulation numbers stood at 93,883, having declined from a peak circulation of 390,510 in 2002. The purge in Norway after World War II was a purge that took place between May 1945 and August 1948 against anyone who was deemed to have collaborated with the German occupation of the country. Several thousand Norwegians and foreign citizens were tried and convicted for crimes committed in Scandinavia during the Second World War. However, the scope, legal basis, and fairness of these trials has since been a matter of some debate. A total of 40 people—including Vidkun Quisling, the Prime Minister of Norway during the occupation—were executed after capital punishment was reinstated in Norway. Thirty-seven of those executed were executed under Norwegian law, while the other three were executed under Allied military law. Aetat (short for no, Arbeidsmarkedsetaten) was a Norwegian government agency responsible for battling unemployment. History It had its roots in the Directorate of Labour ( no, Arbeidsdirektoratet), which was founded in 1945. Its purpose was to "prevent and remedy" unemployment in the Norwegian society. The name Aetat was taken into use in 2000, when the directorate was reorganized. Statspolitiet
(; shortened STAPO) was from 1941 to 1945 a National Socialist armed police force that consisted of Norwegian officials after Nazi German pattern. It operated independently of the ordinary Norwegian police. The force was established on 1 June 1941 during the German occupation of Norway. The initiative for the force came from the later chief Karl Marthinsen and other prominent members of the collaborationist party Nasjonal Samling.
