It had a 2010 United States Census, 2010 census population of 18,368. Erlanger is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area, Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Erlanger was founded in the 1880s. The city was named after the Parisian family bank Emile Erlanger & Co. and its founder, Baron Frédéric Émile d'Erlanger, who helped finance the town's early development.
