Eritrean National Salvation Front
The Eritrean National Salvation Front (abbreviated ENSF; Italian: ''Fronte di Salvezza Nazionale Eritreo'') is an Eritrean opposition group in-exile. The organisation had an armed wing which fought the Eritrean government, and a radio program that operates outside of Eritrea (as only state media is allowed in the country). Awate
''Awate'' or awate.com is a United States based Eritrean news website. Creation ''Awate'' was created by Saleh Gadi as an Eritrean news website, in September 2000, several years after the 1997 creation of ''Asmarino'', another Eritrean diaspora news website. Saleh lived in Kuwait for several years through to 2001, and published reports critical of the Eritrean government's decision to attack Ethiopia, which started the Eritrean–Ethiopian War. Saleh's passport was cancelled and he received political asylum in the United States (US). Saleh created ''Awate'' after his arrival in the US, with aim of providing an alternative to what he described as Eritrean government "infiltrat on fevery community in the world ithnetworks of supporters everywhere who threaten people and, either directly or through relatives back home, punish them for speaking out". Flag Of Eritrea (1952-1961)
The Flag of Eritrea ( ti, ሃገራዊት ባንዴራ ኤርትራ, ar, علم إريتريا الوطني) is the national flag of Eritrea. It was adopted on 5th December, 1995. The flag combines the basic layout and colors from the flag of the Eritrean People's Liberation Front with an emblem of a wreath and an upright olive-branch derived from the Eritrean flag from 1952 to 1962. The green color in the flag stands for the agriculture and livestock of the country, while the blue represents the bounty of the sea. The red stands for the blood shed in the struggle for Eritrean independence, with the 30 leaves in the wreath representing the thirty years spent in the struggle for independence. Second Afar Insurgency
The Second Afar insurgency was an insurgency in the Afar Region of Ethiopia and the Southern Red Sea Region of Eritrea (also known as Dankalia), waged by various Afar rebel groups. Both Ethiopia and Eritrea supported different rebel groups in the region in a proxy war, and occasionally engaged in border skirmishes with each other, as well as with opposing rebel groups. Ahmed Mohammed Nasser
Ahmed Mohammed Nasser was an Eritrean politician who was the chairman of the Eritrean Liberation Front and a key figure during the Eritrean War of Independence. Life Ahmad Mohammad Nasser was born in 1946 in a village called Ayromale located in the plains of Dioot of Eastern Akkele-Guzai. He was of Saho descent. In 1964 he joined the Eritrean Liberation Front and was sent to Iraq for training; he graduated as an officer from a military academy and was gifted a pistol and a watch by the Iraqi president Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr. In 1968 he returned to lead the Eritrean Liberation Army and continued as coordinating officer of the liberation army up to the time the historic first national congress of the Eritrean Liberation Front convened in October 1971.
