Erica Moore
Erica Moore (born March 25, 1988, in Seymour, Indiana) is an American middle-distance runner. She attended and graduated from Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Indiana, where her father was the boys basketball coach. She was a versatile athlete, establishing school records in at least six events in track and playing basketball. She qualified for the Indiana state finals in three events and finished third in the 300-meter hurdles. She then won the 300-meter hurdles in the Midwest Meet of Champions. NCAA She matriculated to Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she had an outstanding career in track, competing primarily in the pentathlon and heptathlon and middle distance events, including the 400 meter-run, 800-meter run and 400-meter hurdles. As a senior in 2010 she was an All-America in the 800-meter run indoors and the 400-meter hurdles outdoors. Seymour, Indiana
Seymour is a city in Jackson County, Indiana, United States. Its population was 21,569 at the 2020 census. The city is noted for its location at the intersection of two major north–south and east–west railroads, which cross each other in the downtown area. The north–south line (the Jeffersonville, Madison and Indianapolis Railroad) was built in the 1840s and connected Indianapolis to the Ohio River at Jeffersonville. In 1852, Captain Meedy Shields persuaded Hezekiah Cook Seymour into building the eastwest railroad (the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad) through his land, and in return named the city in Seymour's honor. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was the 14th edition of the global-level indoor track and field competition and was held between March 9–11, 2012 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. It was the first of four IAAF World Athletics Series events in 2012, which includes the World Race Walking Cup, the World Junior Championships and the World Half Marathon Championships. Preparation The IAAF announced on March 25, 2007, at an IAAF Council meeting in Mombasa, Kenya that it had received bids from Turkey and Qatar to host the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships. In November 2007 at an IAAF Council meeting in Monaco, Doha was selected to host the 2010 edition, but due to the quality of the Istanbul bid, the Turkish city was chosen to host the following edition of the competition in 2012.
