Eric The Red (album)
''Eric the Red'' is the second studio album by Faroese folk metal band Týr. It was released on 27 June 2003 by TUTL Records. The album is trilingual with Faroese and English as the predominant languages. The song "Ramund Hin Unge" is sung in Danish (specifically Gøtudanskt). The album was re-released on 24 March 2006 by Napalm Records with a new cover artwork and two additional tracks originally from a demo released in 2000. The original cover features a painting by Haukur L. Halldórsson titled The Ocean God. The re-release album features cover art by Jan Yrlund. Týr (band)
Týr () is a Faroese folk metal band. They have been characterised as one of "the islands' two most successful metal bands". Their subject matter revolves almost entirely around Viking lore, mythology, and history, taking their name from Týr, the god of war in Norse religion. Gunnar is a male first name of Nordic origin (''Gunnarr'' in Old Norse). Rainbow Warrior (1978)
''Rainbow Warrior'' was a Greenpeace ship involved in campaigns against whaling, seal hunting, nuclear testing and nuclear waste dumping during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure (the French intelligence service) bombed ''Rainbow Warrior'' in the Port of Auckland, New Zealand on 10 July 1985, sinking the ship and killing photographer Fernando Pereira. Ólavur Riddararós
"Ólavur Riddararós" is a song by Faroese folk / Viking metal band Týr, released as a single in October 2002 by Tutl. The song is an adaptation of the Faroese ballad of the same name, a variant of the ''Elveskud'' ballad. This is the only Týr release to feature Allan Streymoy's vocals, who joined the band after Pól Arni Holm's departure. The band considers, in retrospect, Streymoy's hiring and the single's release to be a "rash decision". The Wild Rover
"The Wild Rover" ( Roud 1173) is a very popular and well-travelled folk song. Many territories have laid claim to have the original version. History In 2015 the English Folk Song and Dance periodical "Folk Music Journal" vol 10 No 5 had an article by Brian Peters. He claims that the origin of the song was a seventeenth century English Broadside written by Thomas Lanfiere. This evolved into several distinct versions. They have been found in England, Scotland, Ireland and North America. Shortly afterwards it became popular in Australia. The song tells the story of a young man who has been away from his hometown for many years. When he returns to his former alehouse, the landlady refuses him credit, until he presents the gold which he has gained while he has been away. Heri Joensen
Heri Joensen (; born 21 February 1973) is a Faroese musician, notable for being the vocalist for the heavy metal band Týr. Heri was born in the Faroe Islands capital of Tórshavn which has had an influence on his song writing. As well as Týr, he has recently recorded a solo album titled ''Heljareyga''. Early life Heri Joensen was born in the Faroese capital Tórshavn on 21 February 1973, but grew up in Toftir, and later his family moved to the small village of Lamba. At the age of fourteen Heri began playing guitar and by the age of seventeen was playing in local bands. By this time he had relocated to the well-populated fishing port of Runavík. Napalm Records is an Austrian independent record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock. Faroe Islands

Viking Metal
Viking metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by a lyrical and thematic focus on Norse mythology, Norse paganism, and the Viking Age. Viking metal is quite diverse as a musical style, to the point where some consider it more a cross-genre term than a genre, but it is typically seen as black metal with influences from Nordic folk music. Common traits include a slow-paced and heavy riffing style, anthemic choruses, use of both sung and harsh vocals, a reliance on folk instrumentation, and often the use of keyboards for atmospheric effect.
