Eric Wilson (bassist)
Eric John Wilson (born February 21, 1970) is an American musician who is best known as the former bassist for Sublime (1988–1996). He was also bassist for Long Beach Dub Allstars (1997–2002), and Long Beach Shortbus, which was composed of several members of Long Beach Dub Allstars and Sublime. Since 2009, Wilson has been the bassist for Sublime with Rome, a musical collaboration between Wilson and singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez. Musical career Sublime Wilson and Bradley Nowell met in 1979 and later started a punk band called Hogan's Heroes, later changing their name to Sloppy Seconds (not to be confused with the Indiana hardcore punk band of the same name). In 1988, Wilson introduced friend Bradley Nowell to his long-time friend Bud Gaugh, and the three of them went on to form Sublime. Unalaska ( ale, Iluulux̂; russian: Уналашка) is the chief center of population in the Aleutian Islands. The city is in the Aleutians West Census Area, a regional component of the Unorganized Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. Unalaska is located on Unalaska Island and neighboring Amaknak Island in the Aleutian Islands off mainland Alaska. Long Beach Shortbus
Long Beach Shortbus was an American reggae-influenced punk band from Long Beach, California, United States. The band consists of four regular members: RAS-1 (lead vocals and guitar), Trey Pangborn (guitar), Eric Wilson (bass guitar) and Damion Ramirez (drums). Shortbus originated as a side project of RAS-1 and Eric Wilson, eventually taking shape after the Long Beach Dub Allstars disbanded in 2002. Their first CD was a self-titled EP and featured their hit "California Grace." Their second CD was entitled ''Flying Ship of Fantasy'', featuring tracks from their first album. "California Grace" is also available on the soundtrack to the MTV reality series ''Laguna Beach''. On October 7, 2007, it was announced that the band would be parting ways. Bradley Nowell
Bradley James Nowell (February 22, 1968 – May 25, 1996) was an American musician and the lead singer and guitarist of the ska punk band Sublime. Born and raised in Belmont Shore, Long Beach, California, Nowell developed an interest in music at a young age. His father took him on a trip to Jamaica during his childhood years, which exposed him to reggae and dancehall music; he then gained a strong interest in rock music once he learned how to play guitar. Nowell played in various bands until forming Sublime with bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh, whom he had met while attending California State University at Long Beach. In his lifetime, Sublime released the albums ''40oz. to Freedom'' and ''Robbin' the Hood'' to critical and commercial success. Sparks is a city in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. It was founded in 1904, incorporated on March 15, 1905, and is located just east of Reno. James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born April 21, 1947), known professionally as Iggy Pop, is an American singer, musician, songwriter and actor. RAS-1 (Richard Arthur Smith) is a musician (guitarist/singer) who was in the band Long Beach Shortbus with former Sublime bassist Eric Wilson and Willard "trey" Pangborn of Falling Idols, along with drummer Damien Ramirez. RAS-1 was also a member of Long Beach Dub Allstars along with Eric Wilson and former Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh. Early life Richard Arthur Smith is the son of singer Dora Gail Smith formerly of the all girl Long Beach jazz quartet Dream. ''Wonders of the World'' is the second album from dub band Long Beach Dub Allstars. It was released on September 11, 2001, and was the final album from the band. The band members were: Ras 1 (vocals, guitar); Tim Wu (vocals, flute, saxophone, synthesizer); Jack Maness (vocals, Hammond B-3 organ, keyboards); Opie Ortiz (vocals); Marshall Goodman (drums, percussion, turntables); Eric Wilson (bass); Bud (drums). It was recorded at Total Access Studios, in Redondo Beach, California. "Sunny Hours" was used as the theme song to the '' Friends spin-off sitcom, ''Joey''. The record was produced by Paul Leary (who also produced half of Sublime's breakthrough self-titled album) and engineered and mixed by Eddie Ashworth, who also worked on many of Sublime's albums as well co-producing the previous Long Beach Dub All Stars album. Surf Music
Surf music (or surf rock, surf pop, or surf guitar) is a genre of rock music associated with surf culture, particularly as found in Southern California. It was especially popular from 1958 to 1964 in two major forms. The first is instrumental surf, distinguished by reverb-heavy electric guitars played to evoke the sound of crashing waves, largely pioneered by Dick Dale and the Del-Tones. The second is vocal surf, which took elements of the original surf sound and added vocal harmonies, a movement led by the Beach Boys. Dick Dale developed the surf sound from instrumental rock, where he added Middle Eastern and Mexican influences, a spring reverb, and rapid alternate picking characteristics. Sloppy Seconds is an American, Ramones-influenced punk band sometimes referred to as a ''junk rock band'' from Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, that started in 1984.
