Eric Wagner
Eric Wagner (April 24, 1959 – August 22, 2021) was an American heavy metal singer, best known for his work with doom metal band Trouble. Career Wagner formed Trouble in 1979. He briefly left the band in the mid-1990s and formed Lid with guitarist Daniel Cavanagh, resulting in 1997's ''In the Mushroom''. He also appeared on Dave Grohl's heavy metal side-project ''Probot'' in 2004 with the song "My Tortured Soul". He rejoined Trouble in 2000, and recorded one more album with them, '' Simple Mind Condition'' (2007), before leaving the band once again in May 2008 to pursue other musical interests and projects. Wagner had also been recording under the band name Blackfinger. He also formed The Skull, which features former Trouble bassist Ron Holzner. Death Wagner died from complications of COVID-19 in Las Vegas on August 22, 2021, at the age of 62. Probot
Probot was a heavy metal side project of ex-Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters rhythm guitarist and lead-singer Dave Grohl. Described by Grohl as "a death metal ''Supernatural''", the album mixes instrumentals recorded by Grohl himself with various metal singers whom the musician admired. The album was released in February 2004 by Southern Lord Records. It featured one single entitled "Centuries of Sin"/"The Emerald Law". Background After years of popularity in the alternative rock scene, Dave Grohl wanted to express the passion for heavy metal he bore since his youth. ''Plastic Green Head'' is the sixth studio album by the American doom metal band Trouble. It was first released on the Music for Nations label in Europe in 1995 and later distributed in the United States by Century Media Records with a bonus track in 1996. The album marked the return of original Trouble drummer Jeff Olson, who left the band in 1986 and returned in 1993. The album contains covers of The Monkees' 1968 track "Porpoise Song" and The Beatles' 1966 song "Tomorrow Never Knows". A promotional disc was released with "The Eye," "Plastic Green Head," and "Hear the Earth" in 1995. Following the release of ''Plastic Green Head'', Trouble went on an extended hiatus after their European tour was canceled. Run To The Light
''Run to the Light'' is the third studio album by American doom metal band Trouble, released by Metal Blade Records on July 15, 1987, being the band's last release on that label. It was the band's first album to have Ron Holzner on bass guitar and the only Trouble album with Dennis Lesh on drums. Jeff Olson, who left the band in 1986, played the Hammond organ on the song "The Beginning". Ted Kirkpatrick, who later formed the Christian metal band Tourniquet in 1990, played drums during Trouble's tour for the album. A music video was made for the title track. A remaster, ''Run to the Light: Expanded Edition'', was released on CD, vinyl, and digitally on June 16, 2023. The CD and digital versions of the ''Expanded Edition'' include a cover of The Beatles' 1969 single "Come Together", which was originally released on the compilation ''The Best of Metal Blade Volume 3'' in 1988, and three demo songs recorded in 1986. The Skull (album)
''The Skull'' is the second studio album by American doom metal band Trouble, released by Metal Blade Records in March 1985. Trouble gained critical recognition for ''The Skull'' and it was followed by a successful tour. The album reflected singer Eric Wagner's struggles with substance abuse, however, as well as growing turmoil within the group. This led to the departure of bassist Sean McAllister in 1986; he was replaced by Ron Holzner during that year, who would remain with the band until their 2002 reunion. In early 1986, shortly after ''The Skull'' tour began, drummer Jeff Olson would also leave to pursue higher education and the band regrouped with a new lineup later that year. Olson would play the Hammond organ on Trouble's third studio album, ''Run to the Light'', in 1987 and keyboards on their 1990 self-titled album, eventually fully reuniting with the band in 1993.
