Eric Persson is an American businessman, and co-founder and CEO of Maverick Gaming. Persson is also known for participating in a cash game poker match that yielded one of the largest pots in American televised poker history, $1,978,000, and for owning/operating the Maverick Gaming casinos in Nevada, Colorado, and Washington. Early life Persson was born and raised in Hoquiam, WA, near the Shoalwater Bay Indian Nation tribe that he is a member of. In 1st grade, he knew he wanted to be involved in gaming when he grew up. Hoquiam, Washington
Hoquiam ( ) is a city in Grays Harbor County, Washington, United States. It borders the city of Aberdeen at Myrtle Street, with Hoquiam to the west. The two cities share a common economic history in lumbering and exporting, but Hoquiam has maintained its independent identity. It shares a long rivalry with its more populated neighbor, especially in high school sports. Hoquiam (Ho'-kwee-um, or Ho-kwim, to natives) was incorporated on May 21, 1890. High Stakes Duel is an American poker television program that airs on PokerGO and premiered on July 30, 2020. The original series was announced by PokerGO on July 22, 2020, and would see two players play heads-up No-Limit Hold'em in a poker tournament format to decide a winner. The show is filmed exclusively in the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is aired on PokerGO and PokerGO's YouTube channel. Per the rules of High Stakes Duel, the initial buy-in level is $50,000 for Round 1. With each round that follows, the buy-ins double. Red Garter is a hotel and casino located in West Wendover, Nevada just west of Rainbow. As of 2022, the Red Garter Hotel remained operated by Maverick Gaming. History Red Garter was originally a smaller casino with a connecting Super 8 motel adjacent to it. Red Garter began operation in 1983. In 2004 Holder Hospitality Group purchased the casino from Full House Inc. and retained its current management and staff. As of January 2009 it employed 155 people.
