Eric Glass
Eric George "Tarzan" Glass (22 February 1910 – 29 July 1985) was an Australian rules footballer who played for East Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Williamstown in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). He also served in the Royal Australian Air Force in World War II. Early life Glass was born on 22 February 1910 in Northam, Western Australia, and raised in Goomalling, Western Australia. Football career East Fremantle Glass began his senior career with East Fremantle, playing in the WAFL. A "heavy, raw recruit", he debuted in 1927 and was considered to be "slow and cumbersome" at the beginning of his career. In his time with East Fremantle Glass played 55 games, becoming one of the team's "strongest and most useful players". Northam () is a town in the Australian state of Western Australia, situated at the confluence of the Avon and Mortlock Rivers, about east-northeast of Perth in the Avon Valley. Springvale Botanical Cemetery
The Springvale Botanical Cemetery is the largest crematorium and memorial park in Victoria, Australia. It is located in Springvale, in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. History Originally known as The Necropolis Springvale, the cemetery commenced operations in 1901. Between 1904 and 1952 it was served by its own railway branch line and station, by which coffins, passengers and staff were conveyed to the cemetery. The first cremation took place at Springvale in April 1905. According to the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, here have been approximately 473,000 cremations and 162,000 burials at the Springvale Botanical Cemetery. In 2006, the cemetery was renamed the Springvale Botanical Cemetery to reflect its increasing botanical significance, which includes original plantings of two bunya-bunya pines, palms and gums. The Port Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed The Borough, is an Australian rules football club based in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Port Melbourne. The club was founded in 1874 and has been competing in the Victorian Football Association/League (VFL) since 1886.
