Eric Frenzel (born 21 November 1988) is a German nordic combined skier who has been competing since 2000. Career One of the most successful nordic combined athletes of all time. He won the Olympic gold medals in the Nordic combined at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Individual normal hill/10 km, 10km individual normal hill at the 2014 Winter Olympics and Nordic combined at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Individual normal hill/10 km, 10km individual normal hill at the 2018 Winter Olympics. He won a bronze medal in the 4 x 5 km team event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, silver medal in the 4 x 5 km team event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and gold medal in the 4 x 5 km team event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Frenzel won a silver medal in the 4 x 5 km team event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec and earned his best individual finish of eighth in the 10 km mass start at those same championships. Annaberg-Buchholz () is a town in Saxony, Germany. Lying in the Ore Mountains, it is the capital of the district of Erzgebirgskreis. Geography The town is located in the Ore Mountains, at the side of the ''Pöhlberg'' ( above sea level). History The previously heavily forested upper Ore Mountains were settled in the 12th and 13th centuries by Franconian farmers. Frohnau, Geyersdorf, and Kleinrückerswalde—all now part of present-day town—are all attested from 1397. Barbara Uthmann introduced braid- and lace-making in 1561 and it was further developed in the 1590s by Belgian refugees fleeing the policies of Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, 3rd Duke of Alba, Spain's governor over the Low Countries. The industry was further developed in the 19th century, when Annaberg and Buchholz were connected by rail to Chemnitz and each other and both settlements had specialized schools for lace-making. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019
The 41st FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held from 20 February to 3 March 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol, Tyrol, Austria. It was the second time Seefeld in Tirol hosted the world championships, the event having been hosted there previously in 1985. Host selection Championships was awarded to Seefeld in Tirol in Tyrol in Austria during the FIS Congress from 1–6 June 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. Finalist applicants were Seefeld in Tirol (Austria), Oberstdorf (Germany), Planica (Slovenia) and Almaty (Kazakhstan). Oberstdorf had already applied for 2013, 2015 and 2017, Planica for 2017.
