Eric Dier
Eric Jeremy Edgar Dier (born 15 January 1994) is an English professional footballer who plays for club Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team. A versatile defensive player, Dier has been deployed as a defensive midfielder, a centre-back and a right-back. Dier grew up in Portugal, where he came through the youth ranks at Sporting CP, making his reserve and senior debuts in 2012 after a loan to Everton. In 2014, he moved to Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year contract for a fee of £4 million. He has made over 200 appearances for Tottenham, including in the 2015 Football League Cup Final and the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final. Despite interest from Portugal, Dier opted to represent England in international football. Peter Croker
Peter Harry Lewis Croker (21 December 1921 – 7 December 2011) was an English footballer, who played as a full-back in the Football League for Charlton Athletic and Watford and in non-league football for Bromley and Gravesend & Northfleet. Prior to his death, he was the last survivor from Charlton's 1947 FA Cup Final-winning team. He missed the 1946 FA Cup Final through injury. Coaching and administrative career Beginning in 1956, Croker served Charlton Athletic as youth team manager, scout and assistant manager. He also scouted for Blackpool and Sunderland and later became chairman of the South East Counties League. Personal life His great nephew Eric Dier is also a professional footballer. Edgar Alfred Croker (13 February 1924 – 25 December 1992) was an English football player and administrator. He was Secretary of the Football Association from 1973 to 1989. Life and career Born in Kingston-upon-Thames in 1924, Croker joined the RAF as a pilot in 1942. He sustained injuries in a crash which hampered his later football career. In the late 1940s and 1950s he played as a defender for Charlton Athletic, Dartford, Headington United (later Oxford United) and Kidderminster Harriers. He lived in Cheltenham in the 1950s, where he founded the heavy machinery company Liner-Croker Ltd. The company, specializing in earth-moving equipment, grew successfully throughout the 1960s. Jeremy Dier (born 30 May 1960) is a British former professional tennis player. He is the father of footballer Eric Dier. Born in Brighton, Dier competed on the professional tour from the late 1970s to early 1980s, reaching a best singles world ranking of 344.
