Male (symbol: ♂) is the sex of an organism that produces the gamete (sex cell) known as sperm, which fuses with the larger female gamete, or ovum, in the process of fertilization. Leiv Erdal (11 August 1915 – 20 November 2009) was a Norwegian military officer, bailiff and politician for the Centre Party. He was born in Naustdal as a son of farmer, bailiff and mayor Bendik Henriksen Erdal (1879–1937) and housewife Oleanna Mathiasdatter Naustdal (1884–1966). He finished primary school in 1929 and worked from 1930 to 1933 with farming and animals. From 1933 to 1934 he attended Fana Folk High School, and he then took agricultural school in Førde for two years and officer training in Bergen to 1937. He became a Sergeant in 1938 and Second Lieutenant ( Fenrik) in 1939. During World War II he fought for Norway in Valdres and Fjordane during the Norwegian Campaign in 1940. He was decorated with the Defence Medal 1940–1945. He was the bailiff of Fjaler from 1940 to 1941 and acting bailiff of Naustdal from 1941 to 1942, but was then fired by the Nazi authorities. Jorun Irene Erdal (born 14 May 1963 in Oslo) is a Norwegian singer and musical theatre artist. Her parents are from Oppstryn in Stryn, in Sogn og Fjordane county, and she has also lived there since age 12. She was raised on Snarøya in Bærum, a suburb of the city of Oslo. Erdal started her musical career touring Norway for three years with the band Ice. At the end her voice was exhausted, so she decided to take a break studying economics instead. Fehriye Erdal (born 25 February 1977) is a Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front militant.. She was one of the three DHKP-C members involved in the assassination of a Turkish businessman, Özdemir Sabancı and two of his employees on 9 January 1996 in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2008, however, she was acquitted of this charge. In 2017 she had been found guilty of involvement in the same murders in Turkey by a Belgian court. In 1999, she was captured in Belgium. At the time of her arrest, she held a fake passport under the name Nese Yildirim. Belgian officials were able to identify her only after her fingerprints were taken. In 2006, a couple of hours before her sentence was announced and in spite of being under 24-hour surveillance of the Belgian Secret Service, she managed to flee.
